Apple Seeds New OS X 10.7.3 Beta To Developers

Apple has seeded a new built of the OS X Lion 10.7.3 beta to developers in the iOS Dev Center. Build 11D36 of 10.7.3 can be downloaded now by registered developers.

While there are no known issues in this latest beta, Apple does request developers to focus on areas like iCloud Document Storage, Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight, and Safari.

Facebook Brings Timeline To The iPhone

Facebook has released an update to its iPhone app that brings the highly-anticpated Timeline view to mobile users. Version 4.1 of the Facebook for iOS app brings with it the ability to access friend lists, subscribers, and subscriptions. Photo viewing and overall speed improvements are also included.

An iPad version of Timeline is coming soon, according to Facebook. Users can download the latest update for free in the App Store.

Carrier IQ: We Only Unintentionally Collected Smartphone Users’ Text Messages

Carrier IQ CEO Larry Lenhart and vice president of marketing Andrew Coward have revealed in an interview that despite the company’s assurance that no personal data is recorded by its software, a “bug” did unintentionally collect users’ text messages. What it does collect intentionally — particularly for the Federal Bureau of Investigation — is yet to be clarified, with the FBI refusing to disclose this information.

Apple has released iTunes 10.5.2 to the public alongside an update to its iTunes Match service. The new version of iTunes only deals with audio distortion issues when playing or importing certain CDs. Apple has remained vague about the specific improvements that have been made to iTunes Match.

Noting that the latest iTunes Match features “several improvements,” Apple has made its new download available in Software Update and on its website.

TV Show Streaming Disappears From Apple TVs In Canada Just Days After Update

Apple quietly issued an update to its Apple TV earlier this week, which finally introduced TV show streaming from the cloud to users in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. for the first time. However, there may have been a good reason why Apple was so quiet about it.

It would seem that the feature isn’t ready yet — or that it was not meant for certain territories — because just days after being introduced, Apple has removed it again.

Popular email client Sparrow has received a significant update today. Sparrow 1.5 brings several improvements to the beautiful Mac app, including integration with Dropbox. Users can mail attachments with either Dropbox or CloudApp.

Version 1.5 also introduces improved search tokens and several other bug fixes. The update is available in the Mac App Store as a free download for existing customers.

Apple: Siri Is Neither Pro-Life Nor Pro-Choice, It’s A Beta

This makes her an “anti-choice extremist,” according to one petition, which is calling for Apple to make changes to its new intelligent assistant.

Apple Releases iTunes Match Beta 3 to Developers

Apple has released iTunes Match beta 3 to developers following the scheduled library reset that took place yesterday, November 11th. The latest beta version of iTunes Match addresses a number of important performance and stability improvements.

Apple originally projected the public launch of iTunes Match for the end of October, but that deadline has passed. Apple is still ironing out the final bugs in its $24.99/year cloud music service.

Apple: iOS 5.0.1 Didn’t Fix All Of The Battery Issues, We’re Still Working On It

Apple has issued a statement to AllThingsD saying that, while iOS 5.0.1 did addresses issues regarding poor battery performance for iOS devices, battery life bugs still need to be fixed.

After iPhone 4S owners started heavily complaining about poor battery life on iOS 5.0, Apple issued two developer betas before pushing iOS 5.0.1 to all devices yesterday.
