The iPhone 13 will have a much larger camera hump, according to what’s supposedly a case for the handset that leaked out early.

The case also shows that the next iOS device wil be slightly thicker, with a smaller notch and relocated buttons.

Larger iPhone 13 cameras

svetapple.sk and the Innocent Store released a series of images of cases for the iPhone 13 series… with measurements.

If these are real, the camera hump is going up in size. How much despond’s on the model. The raised area that holds the camera lenses for the more basic iPhone 13 models will be 4.0 cm, up from 3.7 cm in the iPhone 12 series. And the hump will be 4.5 cm on the iPhone 13 Pro models, up from 3.9 cm.

According to reliable tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 13 Pro models will feature an improved Ultra Wide camera with autofocus capabilities. It is also expected to feature a six-element lens, up from five in current models.

Also, all the 2021 cameras are expected to have Sensor Shift technology for improved stabilization. That’s not just the Pro models.

Smaller notch

For months, rumors have pointed to Apple shrinking the iPhone screen notch. This new report indicates it’s getting 0.35 inches thinner this autumn.

svetapple.sk reports that the screen cutout in all four 2021 handsets is 2.57 cm wide at its maximum. That compares to 3.45 cm in the iPhone 12.

More iPhone 13 design changes

The cases obtained by svetapple.sk are for handsets that are 0.2 mm thicker than their predecessors. An earlier rumor said the thickness change is coming, and that it’s being made to fit in slightly larger batteries needed by the 120 Hz screen.

And Apple is allegedly moving all the buttons down a quarter of an inch. That includes the power and volume buttons.

Months ago, some people dismissed the 2021 iOS models as an “iPhone 12S” — a simple speed bump update to the previous series. But the list of changes has since grown considerably. Certainly, no iPhone 12 case is going to fit the iPhone 13.
