AirPods are shaping up to be one of the hottest gifts this holiday season. And while it might seem like there’s still plenty of time to pick up a pair before Christmas or Hanukkah, there’s less time than you think.
AirPods Pro under so many Christmas trees
Expect heavy demand for Apple’s latest accessory. A recent study found that AirPods are the gift at the top of more US teens’ wish lists than any other. Not just the Apple device they want most — it’s the most desired product of any type.
Causing much of the demand for Apple’s in-ear headphone is almost certainly the recent launch of the redesigned AirPods Pro, the first with active noise cancellation. In the Cult of Mac review, Killian Bell called them “the best accessory I’ve ever purchased from Apple.”
Hanukkah starts December 22. Christmas is, of course, December 25. Both of those are still over a month away, but it’s not too soon to pick up a pair of AirPods Pro if you’ve already decided to give them as a gift. Getting your hands on a pair in a few weeks might be harder than you think.
Buy a pair today from the Apple Store and you won‘t receive them tomorrow. Or next week. Orders placed now won‘t arrive before December 5, and you might not get them until December 12.
The same is true for Amazon. This online giant says that an AirPods Pro purchase made today “Usually ships within 1 to 4 weeks,” and Amazon says free deliveries arrive between Dec. 6 and Dec. 20. So you might get your item before Thanksgiving, but it also might not arrive until mid-December.
True, there are other stores that have these products in stock now. Best Buy is one example.
But consider that supplies of AirPods Pro are already starting to run short at some stores — including Apple’s own — and this is before the holiday rush has really gotten started. Delay your shopping much longer and you might be left explaining to someone that their AirPods Pro are in transit, and won‘t arrive until January.
If you’re holding out for a deal, Amazon has Apple’s latest headphones for $234.98, a savings of 6% off the regular price.

Sure, you might find a better deal by waiting until Black Friday, but ordering these headphones now means you’ll definitely have them on Christmas or Hanukkah.
