Anker is adopting Apple’s tech that makes video security systems more private and secure. It’s upcoming eufyCam 2 uses the Apple Home app to stream live video directly to an iPhone or iPad, without going through an Anker server.
Apple HomeKit Secure Video — a feature of iOS 13 — also stores video on the user’s iCloud account, not anywhere else.
Like all HomeKit devices, an Apple TV, iPad or HomePod is necessary to be an in-home hub, as this will handle sending alerts and notifications to users. Recording video requires a 200GB iCloud plan at $2.99 a month, but Anker itself doesn’t charge a monthly fee.
Anker eufyCam 2 runs for a whole year
This security camera doesn’t need a source of power. Anker promises the battery built into its eufyCam 2 is good for 365 days of use on a single charge.
It offers 1080p Full HD video, with Night Vision.
The Anker eufyCam 2 will be available soon from Best Buy for $349.99.
HomeKit support will be available at launch, while support for HomeKit Secure Video will be added later this year. But this isn’t an Apple-only product, as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are also supported.
