iLife ’11 Coming In August With New Features And Mystery Application?

MacRumors have picked up on some claims this morning by Mac4Ever that give details on Apple’s next update to the iLife suite.

It’s rumored that the update will happen on August 7th, 2010, and will introduce a whole host of new features including a new ”mystery” application:

- iLife ’11 will be sold for $79
- Release Date of 08/07/2010
- All applications will be 64-bit
- Improvements in iPhoto faces & places
- Improving the integration of social networks
- iWeb will be totally renewed
- New application (mystery!)
- Disappearance of iDVD
- MobileMe gallery in beta (with faces & places)

Several rumors have circulated recently regarding an update to iLife, some of which claim the new update will be labelled iLife ’10. However, as MacRumors points out, the iLife ’11 name would be more consistent with Apple’s previous behavior; iLife ’08 was introduced in August, 2007.

Why would they get rid of iDVD. I love that app. So easy.

Here’s hoping that the mystery application is a replacement for iDVD. There just isn’t anything as easy for what it does. I’ve used Toast, but I always come back to iDVD.

I just wish they would focus on iPhoto adjustments. Faces and Place-whoopdidoo. Make iPhoto more like Aperture….oh wait, that is why they HAVE Aperture. But a few more photo fix enhancements would make for less switching between programs for certain workflow uses.

I know I’ll end up being wrong about this….anytime I try to predict what Apple will do, I’m always wrong (along with a lot of other people). Anyhow, could we finally see Apple make the jump to Blu-Ray? iDVD get’s replaced by…iBlu-Ray??? Ok…I’m sure they’d come up with a better name then that. But think about it…new iLife…new Mac Pro’s…possible new iMac’s….all standard or optional Blu-Ray drive.

Very disaponted that Apple hasn’t released a Bluray version for iDVD or a simple thing like a bluray playing capability… Mac user for about ten years bur serioulsy thinking about migrating to PC’s.
Video producers used to be a major and very important niche for Apple, but those guys are letting us down…

Looks like this was just a rumor, yet again. Tell us when, Apple!!
