Now the kids can annoy us with their cellphone music, even when we're swimming

The Lady has been trying to get me to go swimming. Up and down. In a pool. Like an animal. I said that I would do only if there were a way to make it less boring, like, say, someone offered to send a waterproof iPhone case and headphones for me to review.

Well, it looks like I might beef up my weak typist’s arms and firm up my beer belly this summer, as ECOXGEAR (a company who’s name contains the word "cox") has launched the ECOXPRO which works with the waterproof ECOXBUDS.

The ECOXPRO is a rugged case which will fit pretty much any smartphone (or iPod Touch) and clamps shut to keep the water out. It also makes you look like you’re carrying a 1980s-era Sony Sports Walkman, only in orange not yellow.

There’s also a three-inch speaker on the front (powered for up to 30 hours by three AA batteries), and space inside to stow money, cards and keys. This alone is enough to scare you into never giving this thing to a teenager, who would immediately use it to fire up whatever crappy music he has and torture you with it at the beach. Is it not enough to play your "music" on the bus, you teenage monsters? IS IT?

You can use any headphones with the ECOXPRO, but that would kind of miss the point. You should instead consider the ECOXBUDS, although this will adds another $40 to the ECOXPRO’s price. Available now.
