Hey, what's up guys, Stephen Gult of Mac here, and what you see here are the Fusion
0:05
Bumpers from Mobile Outfitters, a Philadelphia-based company that started live creating clear-coat screen protectors all the way back in 2007
0:13
They've put all of their phone protection know-how together to make the Fusion bumper, a 1.9mm thick, clear bumper case for the iPhone 6, 6S and 7
0:23
At 1.9mmmm thin, the Fusion bumper is 40% thinner than the closest competition according
0:28
to Mobile Outfitters. But it also promises to protect your iPhone from knocks and drops from heights of up to 20 foot, no matter which way it lands
0:36
There's two layers to the bumper, a softer, more flexible inner layer and a harder, more durable outer layer
0:41
These two layers work together to absorb and disperse energy from impacts. The corners are also designed to be a little bit thicker with so-called corner cushion technology
0:50
so you don't get any unsightly dense or scrapes if it lands on either of the four corners
0:54
All of the usual cutouts are here for the lock button, volume buttons, mute switch, speaker
0:59
and lightning cable, as well as cutouts for the headphone jack if you're using an iPhone 6S
1:04
The bumper case feels great in the hand for general use thanks to house limiters
1:08
I have no issues reaching either side of the screen with a slightly larger width of the phone whilst
1:12
in the bumper. But the real test is going to be how well it performs when it comes to drop tests
1:17
Mobile Outfitters website has this video of them chucking about an iPhone from all different
1:21
sorts of heights but it survives perfectly So they gracefully given us an iPhone to do the same with it got the bumper and the clear coat screen protectors on so let go and try this out
1:32
Okay, so first we're dropping it from waist height. It's about three feet
1:36
Three, two, one. That's not a nice sound. As it smashed
1:52
Chris, come and get a close up. So there's nothing on the front. There's some little marks here on the top of the case
1:59
The phone itself is absolutely fine. It's all functioning. We even did it a few more times and it was still absolutely fine
2:10
There wasn't a scratch on the phone. Okay, so now we'll drop it from head height
2:16
I am 5 foot 6. 3, 2, 1. Again, absolutely fine, no marks, it's functioning fine
2:35
From such a horrible fall, I for sure thought the screen had smashed. Okay, so now we will try and drop it from six feet
2:42
Ah, this is gonna really hurt. Three, two, one. It absolutely fine Right let really start putting this thing through its paces So my cameraman Sam has managed to climb up a basketball net
3:09
We think it's about 10 foot and so let's give it a go
3:20
Oh, I don't feel good. It's survived. Yeah, it's working
3:39
Wow, it's absolutely fine. Okay, so it's five so far, no problems
3:47
So we're really gonna put it to the test and drop it
3:51
About 30 feet down, um, it's only rated to 20 feet, but I've got my fingers crossed, it's going to five
4:00
So three, two, one. Okay, here you come
4:11
No way. No way it not even scribe Sam wasn quite right Although the front and back of the iPhone had absolutely no scratches the same couldn be said for the headphone jack which has taken a fair bit of an impact
4:30
And when we got back to the office, we realised the speakers aren't quite sounding right as well
4:37
But the phone is still functioning absolutely fine. The cameras work, connects to Wi-Fi no problem
4:43
and to get the speakers and headphone jack fixed, I've been quoted by an independent company
4:47
that it will cost $86. The amount of impacts this case is taken is absolutely ridiculous
4:53
I am so impressed with this, I'm going to be putting one on my phone straight away
4:57
We chucked it about a hell of a lot. There was no damage at all apart from that very last drop
5:01
which we did drop it from slightly higher than what was claimed on the site, but I'm still rarely impressed
5:05
The phone's absolutely fine, and it doesn't cost me that much to get it fixed. Big thanks to Clearcoat for sending out an iPhone for us to test with
5:13
It's much appreciated and I had a little bit more fun than I anticipated. But the bumpers and screen protectors are slightly at the higher end when it comes to cost
5:21
coming in at $99 for all three. I've seen many full coverage cases protecting an iPhone a lot less
5:27
So is your iPhone safety worth $99? I think it is. Well, as it for this video, if you'd like more information on the Clearcoat Fusion
