Hi, Leander Caney here, editor and publisher of CultOfMac.com and this is Caney's Corner
0:07
Okay, this week I want to talk about something that I'm really into that in fact has become
0:13
something of an obsession. I was talking the other day with my co-worker Lewis about Bob Ross, the painter on public
0:19
TV and how I used to get this tingling sensation when I watched his TV show and then Lewis
0:25
informed me that in fact there's a bunch of videos on YouTube that are designed to
0:30
induce this sensation which is known as ASML, ASMP, god f**king stinking f**k
0:37
ASMP is a strange phenomenon because it's not actually scientifically or medically proven
0:43
it's purely anecdotal and some people don't get it. I mean there's a lot of people who don't get this beautiful tingling sensation but those
0:52
that do get it usually by certain triggers. So there's five or six things that will trigger it and whispering is one of them
1:00
Another one is gentle tapping, also crinkling of paper, turning pages or just doing something
1:07
like folding towels or putting on a tie or a scarf. My favorite is Maria, she's a woman from the East Coast who has a YouTube channel, an incredibly
1:17
popular YouTube channel called Gentle Whisperer or Gentle Whispering, sorry Maria, and she
1:25
is this woman from Russia who just whispers into the camera and it's incredibly, incredibly relaxing
1:32
I've checked out a bunch of others and I haven't found anyone who's quite as good as her and so Maria makes these videos, sometimes about an hour long, where she does nothing but folds
1:41
some towels and gently taps her fingers on her box and just talks in a whisper and it's
1:46
complete drivel but it's incredibly relaxing, it puts you into this state of deep, almost
1:54
like meditation. I can sometimes feel as though my chair is tipping up and I get this out of body experience
2:00
and I can see myself from a different angle and my head and neck is tingling, it's absolutely glorious
