News Roundup: Cheaper iPod Touch & Google's Cardboard Goggles
Mar 11, 2025
It seems like it was ages ago when the original iPod Touch helped lead the popularity of iOS. With now seven years behind the device, several different models have reshaped the quality and use behind the "touch". Though the iPhone has taken over and lessened the need for the iTouch, Apple still believes in the product and has introduced a price cut to appeal to customers. Take a look at today's new episode of the news roundup and hear all about the iTouch, the upcoming iPhone 6 and the rest of this week's big stories. hi my name is Joshua Smith and welcome
0:02
to another episode of C toax news
0:04
Roundup and a brand spanking new setup
0:08
pretty nice huh well in other news this
0:10
week has been full of news and like
0:12
always you don't have to worry because
0:14
we've got you covered on everything like
0:16
T-Mobile's wacky new iPhone campaign
0:19
updates to the iPod touch and even a
0:21
virtual reality system made out of
0:23
cardboard well let's go ahead and get
0:26
started
0:28
[Music]
0:36
well it turns out despite Sprint
0:38
allegedly purchasing the number four
0:40
ranked mobile carrier T-Mobile since the
0:43
deal has still not gone through
0:45
officially the struggling carrier has
0:47
taken the new methods of selling the
0:49
iPhone in fact by literally just handing
0:52
one to you okay well not exactly like
0:54
that but just this week T-Mobile
0:56
announced their latest campaign the test
0:59
drive campaign which allows users to try
1:01
out an iPhone on their service for a
1:04
week an iPhone 5S loan to you for a week
1:06
with unlimited data sounds too good to
1:09
be true but indeed it actually is now
1:12
you must put down money via a credit
1:14
card to even receive the loan device and
1:16
if you damage it well you're going to
1:18
have to pay for it but what do you think
1:20
about this crazy new campaign are you
1:21
going to try it out let us know in the
1:23
comments section below and everybody is
1:27
always talking about the iPhone 6 the
1:29
new iPad Air and even eyew watches but
1:32
in the words of the Fallen black ey Peas
1:35
where Is The Love for the long lost iPod
1:40
Touch yes I'll admit it I don't even
1:42
have one of these anymore but apple is
1:44
looking to change that as they've
1:46
updated their prices and made the 32 GB
1:48
model $50 cheaper at
1:51
$249 and the 64 GB model for just
1:55
$349 that's a lot of songs apps and
1:58
movies for not as much money
2:00
and if you're interested in snagging one
2:02
of these colorful devices for the lower
2:04
price you can check out more info on the
2:06
price update by our very own John Brown
2:08
Lee on
2:11
cam.com everybody's talking especially
2:14
in the tech world and this week the talk
2:16
is about the iPhone 6 as a new leaked
2:19
video has hit the internet
2:20
coincidentally posted by a Japanese
2:22
blogger with the name Mac the new video
2:24
Stacks up mockups of the new iPhone 6
2:27
4.7 in model alongside the LED 5 1/2 in
2:31
model as well personally looking at the
2:33
vid this stuff looks legit to me and
2:36
it's only making me more excited for the
2:37
real thing but what do you think are you
2:39
excited for the iPhone 6 will you be
2:41
waiting in line for it make sure to let
2:43
us know and staggering numbers have
2:46
leaked this week saying that foxcon has
2:48
hired 100,000 new employees to get these
2:51
new iPhone 6es made that's 100,000
2:54
people AKA a lot so as expected apple is
2:57
looking to have plenty of these new
2:59
devices sold this year production is
3:01
normally set to ramp up right before
3:03
release date so maybe this means we can
3:05
set our calendars for just a couple of
3:07
months away hopefully cuz I'm ready for
3:10
it come on Apple please just send me one
3:12
I'll review
3:14
it and lastly here's just another reason
3:17
why I love Tech it's pretty creative so
3:20
here's the thing do you have some
3:21
cardboard laying around well just this
3:23
week at Google's developers conference
3:25
they introduced the answer to Facebook's
3:27
acquisition of Oculus ripped believe it
3:29
not with just some cardboard and a few
3:31
magnets Yes you heard me right Google
3:34
has made cardboard goggles that you can
3:36
use to enjoy the newest form of virtual
3:39
reality so the goggles are held together
3:41
by a few velcro straps and you can just
3:43
insert your phone and secure it with say
3:46
some rubber bands just like that put
3:48
your eyes up to the viewfinder and by
3:50
moving a magnetic slider it interacts
3:52
with your phone's magnetometer watch
3:54
videos travel through Google Earth and
3:56
interact with it by moving your head
3:59
it's pretty be cool if you ask me with
4:01
Google opening it up for developers to
4:03
work with even better software and
4:05
functions can be expected cardboard
4:07
goggles now and styrofoam smart glasses
4:10
later the future is here ladies and
4:12
gentlemen it's here it's here and boom
4:17
