hey everyone today I'm going to show you
0:07
six different ways that can help you
0:08
speed up iTunes Now if you know much
0:10
about iTunes and you use it on a regular
0:12
basis to sync your devices or just to
0:14
listen to music and watch video you'll
0:17
know how slow it can get as soon as you
0:20
start to amass even a small music
0:22
library it takes a long time to open
0:25
small actions take forever and sinking
0:28
can take just pain fully long and a lot
0:32
of people criticize this as Apple's
0:34
worst software ever but there are six
0:37
different things I'm going to show you
0:38
today that you can do to tune it up a
0:40
little bit and get it running at Peak
0:43
Performance or what can be considered
0:45
Peak for iTunes so once you have iTunes
0:48
open here you have a couple different
0:50
options here uh first of all if you want
0:53
your devices to sync faster what you can
0:56
do is you can remove the Diagnostic in
1:00
information from sending to Apple so I
1:03
have my device plugged in right here if
1:04
I right click on it and click reset
1:09
warnings and when I go to sync it right
1:11
now it's going to give me this little
1:14
message box here and it's going to talk
1:16
to me about sending diagnostic
1:18
information to Apple and if I click no
1:21
thanks that's going to help speed up
1:24
syncing quite a bit most people just
1:26
click yes uh you know just kind of a
1:28
okay whatever when when you first sync
1:30
your device but if you click no this can
1:32
uh speed up your syncing time CU it
1:34
doesn't have to send all that
1:35
information to Apple now for the next
1:37
thing you're going to go up to the
1:38
iTunes menu and click on preferences
1:41
there's a couple different things you
1:42
can do here if you click on the playback
1:45
Tab and you uncheck Crossfade
1:49
songs and sound enhancer although it may
1:53
not seem like it these two options being
1:55
unchecked can help speed up iTunes it
1:57
doesn't have to work as hard to you know
1:58
enhance the sound or Crossfade the songs
2:01
and even though you might not notice a
2:04
real big jump in performance these
2:06
things can help especially the more your
2:08
music library grows the next thing you
2:11
can do is click on the devices column
2:14
and you can check prevent iPods iPhones
2:16
and iPads from syncing
2:18
automatically now here's another thing
2:20
you might be guilty of doing with your
2:21
iOS devices if your camera roll gets
2:24
very large this is going to dramatically
2:27
slow down sying time because every time
2:30
time your device backs up it backs up
2:32
the entire camera roll so if you go
2:35
through your camera roll and you find a
2:36
whole bunch of pictures that you maybe
2:38
you already have copied over your
2:39
computer or you just don't really need
2:40
anymore on there just deleting those
2:43
pictures can really speed up your
2:45
syncing time because it doesn't have to
2:47
back up all that data and pictures take
2:49
a while to back up another thing you can
2:52
do is get rid of smart playlist now if
2:56
you like smart playlist this is probably
2:57
not something you're really going to
2:59
want to do right away and you might be a
3:00
little bit hesitant but especially if
3:03
you have a ton of music and you're
3:04
adding music a lot this is something
3:06
that's going to help speed it up uh
3:08
because smart playlists automatically
3:11
update their information all the time so
3:15
so every time iTunes opens or you add
3:17
music or anything it has to look through
3:19
those playlists and see if there's
3:20
anything it needs to add to it so you
3:22
can just right click on them and click
3:25
delete and if you get rid of your smart
3:27
playlists especially ones you don't use
3:29
anymore something like that this can
3:31
help you out uh but if you're a little
3:32
bit you know apprehensive about getting
3:34
rid of them you can click on edit smart
3:37
playlist and you're going to see this
3:39
little box here that says live updating
3:42
and if you uncheck that it won't update
3:44
automatically anymore but it also
3:46
doesn't have to go through all that time
3:48
of trying to figure out what to update
3:52
and what to add to the playlist so
3:54
that's something that you can do as well
3:56
another thing you can do if you have all
3:57
these different columns up here like I
3:59
have name time artist album Etc let's
4:02
say you don't really care about the
4:04
genre if you right click on anywhere up
4:07
in the columns here you're going to see
4:09
a list of all the different columns that
4:11
you can add to iTunes and let's say I
4:14
don't really like uh looking at the
4:16
genre I can uncheck that and now that
4:19
column's not there anymore and let's say
4:21
I never really look at the rating either
4:23
so I'm going to get rid of that column
4:24
the less columns that are here the less
4:27
iTunes has to work with when it starts
4:28
up every time and and the faster it will
4:30
be so those are some handy tips you can
4:33
use to help speed up iTunes if it's
4:35
running slowly for you and for most
4:37
people it probably is now if you try all
4:39
these things out and it still doesn't
4:41
help you a lot and you don't really
4:42
notice a huge performance Improvement
4:45
they're not meant to speed up iTunes you
4:48
know 150% and cut your device syncing
4:50
time in half these are just things you
4:52
can do you know to maybe shave a few
4:54
seconds off of startup time for iTunes
4:56
cuz it notoriously takes a long time to
4:58
start up uh just different things that
5:00
can make the iTunes experience more
5:02
pleasant and if you don't notice any
5:04
speed improvements at all it's probably
5:05
because you have a relatively small
5:07
Library you're going to see bigger and
5:09
bigger improvements depending on the
5:11
size of your library so if you only have
5:13
50 songs in there you're probably not
5:14
going to see much of a change but if
5:16
you're a serious music collector and you
5:17
have thousands and thousands of songs in
5:19
your library this can give you some
5:22
pretty significant performance
5:25
improvements in iTunes so I hope you
5:28
found this video useful and thank you
