it's been all over Twitter everyone is
0:02
having to make the decision are they
0:03
going to keep the Vision Pro or not LK I
0:06
would love for you to weave in whether
0:07
or not you're keeping your Vision Pro
0:09
into this story but take it
0:11
away yeah well funny enough um I am
0:15
still not decided I'm totally wavering
0:17
you know like I went into it figuring
0:20
yeah I'm definitely going to return it
0:22
um because it's so expensive and you
0:25
know we'll do a quick review and then
0:26
I'll I'll send it back to Apple um but
0:29
now I'm
0:30
I'm I'm I'm very much on the fence um
0:34
but partly that's because of a sort of
0:36
editorial decision because you know it
0:37
seems like it's wise to keep it to
0:39
because we need it to make content for
0:41
the site you know that's our bread and
0:42
butter writing about Apple products this
0:45
is the ma first major new category of
0:47
product they've had in at least a decade
0:50
so that that's definitely factoring into
0:52
it you
0:53
know um anyway to get back to the point
0:56
is like I've never seen anything like
0:57
this you know there's been all over
0:59
Twitter
1:01
hundreds well dozens or if not hundreds
1:03
of people are saying you know they're
1:04
going to be returning their Vision Pro
1:05
headsets and um when the two we window
1:09
is up you know for a lot of the early
1:10
aduls the people who got it on the first
1:12
day of sales they have to return them by
1:15
uh
1:16
Friday uh the 16th February the 16th or
1:19
at least this weekend so um you're
1:21
seeing on Twitter and a lot of the other
1:23
social channels that people are saying
1:24
that yeah they're going to return their
1:25
Vision Pro um and I've never seen
1:28
anything like this with any other Apple
1:29
product
1:30
um you know no one said that about the
1:32
first iPhone although the social you
1:34
know Twitter wasn't the kind of
1:36
phenomenon it was or the social media
1:37
channels weren't the phenomenon it was
1:40
when um the iPhone came out of course
1:42
but you know I I think there's been
1:44
plenty of other Apple products that have
1:45
been candidates for Mass returns
1:48
possibly Apple silicon that you know
1:49
people have been um disappointed by
1:51
those so it's unusual to see so many
1:53
people saying that they're going to be
1:54
returning a product especially one
1:55
that's got you know it's gotten really
1:57
rave reviews although they've been
1:59
definitely mixed viws you know there's
2:00
always there's there's a very very big
2:03
caveat which is you know the um this
2:06
this thing is magical it's totally
2:08
amazing it's a glimpse of the future but
2:11
you know a lot of people are just
2:12
struggling I think to find a daily use
2:14
case for this and they're finding it
2:15
hard to justify spending $ three and a
2:17
half thousand on something that gives
2:19
you yeah you know it's it's great to
2:20
watch movies in but you know at the same
2:23
time you're cut off from all your kids
2:25
your family you're the only person who
2:26
can experience this stuff all the
2:29
different things the criticisms that
2:31
people are weighing um against the
2:33
headset I think are weighing on the
2:35
price you know and so you a lot of
2:36
people making that calculation that it's
2:39
a lot of money to be keeping something
2:41
that they don't really find is an
2:43
absolute
2:45
musthave yeah that kind of summarizes
2:49
how I feel about it I I really want to
2:51
keep it because it is so Cutting Edge
2:52
and there's some things that it does so
2:54
well and obviously I want to keep it
2:56
because it would be good to see how the
2:58
product develops over time
3:00
but it's
3:01
$3,500 plus tax like it's almost $4,000
3:05
and I keep thinking to myself $4,000 is
3:07
a lot and I can employ that money in
3:11
different ways and buy multiple products
3:14
that I might actually use on a daily
3:15
basis and I think well I don't want to
3:18
get ahead of you here because I think
3:19
you're going to talk about some of the
3:20
other reasons that people are returning
3:22
them did you already cover these let's
3:24
see here the the reasons yeah like the
3:28
the the primary reason aside from the
3:30
cost that people are returning
3:31
it yeah I think there were three three
3:34
main reasons and it was sort of um
3:36
weight and comfort was a big one a lot
3:38
of people find it uncomfortable a lot of
3:39
people find it too heavy um that was
3:42
definitely fing into people's uh
3:44
decision the isolation I think was the
3:46
other was possibly the biggest reason
3:49
the fact that um uh you can't share
3:52
these experiences no matter how
3:53
incredible they are yeah um and um the
3:57
third reason was um
4:00
oh I think just you know people I think
4:02
a lot of people went into it thinking
4:03
that they were going to try it you know
4:05
um they would they knew that they were
4:08
going to return it when they bought it
4:10
and because of Apple's generous no
4:12
questions asked return policy as long as
4:15
the um it's in good shape and the
4:17
packaging is in pretty good shape you
4:19
can you can take it back to the uh to
4:21
the store no no you know no problem at
4:23
all and I think a lot of people um and I
4:26
that definitely you know I mean that was
4:27
my plan from the very get-go was like
4:30
yeah you know as soon as I I I couldn't
4:31
meet the um the Apple Store uh staffers
4:34
in the eye I couldn't look him in the
4:36
eye you know because
4:38
I too
4:39
shd
4:41
yeah and I knew see you in two weeks
4:45
right precisely that's exactly what I
4:48
was planning because now I'm sort of
4:50
like double thinking it um uh and I'm
4:53
wondering whether I am actually going to
4:54
I'm going to return it I think you know
4:56
more than likely I am and that was the
4:58
other interesting thing I think as well
5:00
is that I think almost everybody who
5:01
said they were going to return it
5:03
everybody said yeah I'm going to be back
5:04
for version two no doubt about it that's
5:08
for the for the next return wave yeah
5:10
he's gonna stay for two
5:11
weeks well a lot of people were rubbing
5:13
their hands at the prospect of hitting
5:14
at the refurb store you know there's
5:16
going to they're going to have a lot of
5:17
these on the Apple refurbished um online
5:19
store in a in a couple of months yeah I
5:22
think there's going to be a ton although
5:24
I will be curious to see how much of a
5:25
discount they have to employ to get
5:27
people to scoop all those up like I
5:29
don't know 10% would be enough or even
5:30
15% like I mean that is obviously for
5:34
many people going to be the biggest
5:36
reason is the price and I think you're
5:38
right A lot of people did buy this
5:39
knowing they were going to return I mean
5:41
even I felt bad because I I was on the
5:43
fence when I bought it but I went into
5:44
it with the mindset of like look there's
5:46
a two-e return policy I'm going to use
5:48
it for two weeks and maybe this thing
5:50
will win me over because at this point I
5:52
don't know if it's something that I
5:54
would use regularly regularly enough to
5:56
justify the cost and it does some things
5:59
incredibly well like that Cinema mode
6:01
where you can be sitting in like like a
6:03
full-blown movie cinema and change like
6:06
where you're sitting in in the movie
6:08
theater like in the balcony on the floor
6:11
like in the front row in the middle row
6:12
like that is incredible technology and
6:15
is so immersive but to the points that
6:18
you brought up earlier as immersive and
6:22
uh and and mesmerizing as the experience
6:26
is when you're wearing it it is the
6:28
exact opposite for everyone watching you
6:31
use it it is completely disconnecting my
6:34
wife hates the thing and she hates that
6:36
it even exists she doesn't want me
6:37
wearing it in the house or around anyone
6:39
she doesn't care about the ghost eyes
6:40
she hates it and she hates what it's
6:42
going to do to society and she keeps
6:44
bringing up the Wall-E references she's
6:45
like next thing you need is the floating
6:47
chair and I'm like yeah right well do
6:48
they sell those yet because I'd actually
6:49
be interested in that uh you know and uh
6:53
so you you really you can't use this
6:56
around other people at least not at this
6:57
point and then the other part is and
7:01
everyone's got different levels of head
7:03
neck strength my neck is fine that was
7:05
be that was something that people have
7:06
complained about but for me it's like
7:08
the face pressure the thing is too heavy
7:12
or at least it is not well balanced like
7:14
they should have done something to
7:15
address the balance issues it's way too
7:17
front heavy and I find it to be
7:19
fatiguing to wear and there was a tweet
7:21
by um let's see here where is it we have
7:24
it in the story actually by snazzy Labs
7:26
I'm gathering some web assets from my
7:28
vision pro video on my Mac Studio and my
7:30
studio display the Vision Pro is Within
7:32
Reach I haven't used it today I have no
7:33
desire to wear it to perform this
7:35
specific task that's kind of how I felt
7:38
I like wearing it in certain
7:41
entertainment situations but beyond that
7:43
I just don't really want to wear it I'd
7:44
rather just do stuff on my Mac from a
7:47
productivity standpoint and it reminds
7:50
me a lot of like the Wii gaming scenario
7:52
where motion gaming was like this really
7:54
cool huge fad and then everyone decided
7:56
like we didn't want to watch or didn't
7:58
want to use motion control controls
7:59
anymore we just wanted to have a normal
8:01
controller and I kind of think that is
8:04
at play here too like a lot of people
8:05
are like oh this is really cool but I'd
8:06
rather just be on my Mac or I'd rather
8:08
just use my TV now Griffin may change
8:11
all of our minds when he comes in later
8:12
to talk about wearing it while he's
8:14
exercising which is sounds gross to me
8:17
having sweat point on your face on the
8:19
interior of this thing I did a poll and
8:22
I know Colac did a poll too uh which I
8:24
didn't even see when I did my poll just
8:27
asking people if they were going to keep
8:28
it or return it
8:31
and 52.2% so 134 people have responded
8:36
have said they're going to return it and
8:38
only 47.8% of people said they're going
8:40
to keep it and ler I think you mentioned
8:43
this in your story like if more than
8:45
half or even half of the people are
8:47
going to be returning this that this has
8:50
got to be a massive probably one of the
8:52
biggest return waves Apple has ever seen
8:54
for any product I mean iPhones can't
8:56
possibly be anywhere near I would
8:58
imagine iPhone returns were on the
9:00
single digits if I had to guess
