hi everyone airun Elijah here with cult
0:02
of.com welcome to another episode of
0:04
cult ofm TV in this episode I'm going to
0:06
be reviewing the yeti Pro microphone
0:09
from Blue this is the uh much
0:12
anticipated successor to the yeti uh a
0:15
microphone that blue released quite a
0:16
while ago um there are some differences
0:19
and um there's a lot of things I really
0:21
like about this mic a lot uh before I
0:23
jump into those things why don't we do a
0:26
quick unboxing and I'll see you right
0:27
back here in just a sec um okay let's
0:30
get this box
0:34
open okay oh there's like an inner box
0:37
here all
0:41
right okay so top layer looks like we
0:45
have a USB cable and then a pretty heavy
0:49
um set of XLR cables looks like a user
0:54
guide ah there she
0:57
is oh yes
1:05
oh just like that pretty basic
1:08
packaging and then we have the mic
1:11
itself another packet of
1:14
snacks and then that's
1:19
it all right I'm back wasn't that
1:22
exciting so why don't we start with a
1:23
look at the microphone
1:25
itself it's fairly substantial as I hold
1:28
it uh it comes with a built-in stand
1:31
that you kind of tuck away like this and
1:33
as you could see it's it's fairly large
1:36
it's about the size of my giant head um
1:39
but it feels very solid and the bass
1:42
works really well holding the microphone
1:43
at different directions uh one of the
1:45
problems with this microphone initially
1:47
with the yeti was a lot of people had
1:49
complained that these little knobs in
1:50
here felt cheap and kind of wobbled
1:52
around blue obviously heard that um
1:55
these these knobs and the buttons they
1:57
feel much more um sturdy they don't
1:59
wiggle around as much they are still
2:00
made of plastic and they're not totally
2:03
locked in there this one's got a little
2:04
bit of Wiggle but for the most part they
2:07
uh they heard that problem and they
2:08
fixed it now two major differences
2:10
between the yeti and the yeti Pro are
2:12
the color this one's black the yeti I
2:14
believe is blue um one of the major
2:17
differences is this one allows you to
2:19
plug it into an XLR Port you can see
2:21
there's a port right there that's huge
2:24
um if you're going to be using this
2:25
without connecting it to your computer
2:27
for example I have mine plugged into a
2:30
amp connected to my camera right now you
2:32
simply can't do that with the original
2:33
Yeti this one you can so it it it opens
2:36
up an entire world the possibility of
2:38
what you can use this microphone for
2:40
because when you're using a microphone
2:42
to record music um often times you're
2:45
not connecting anything via USB you're
2:47
going to use the XLR Port that's a
2:49
that's a standard in musical like
2:51
recording equipment another one of the
2:53
big differences is this this microphone
2:56
is able to record a much higher quality
2:57
audio 24-bit at 192 2 khz that's a lot
3:01
higher than the yeti and I think it's
3:03
four times the quality of CDs so you can
3:05
record extremely accurate uh audio with
3:08
this microphone or I should say
3:10
extremely high quality audio with this
3:12
microphone one of the things I'm really
3:14
impressed with is how incredibly
3:17
versatile this microphone is you can
3:19
record in four different patterns it has
3:22
bidirectional
3:24
omnidirectional uh
3:26
cardioid um and stereo that's four very
3:30
useful uh different polar patterns that
3:32
you could use in one microphone it comes
3:35
with a stand built in they may not seem
3:37
like an obvious feature that's helpful
3:39
but it is because a lot of microphones
3:40
when you buy them just come with a mic
3:43
uh you may need to buy a stand you may
3:44
need to buy a shock mount this thing
3:47
comes with everything you need and the
3:48
cables that you need it's ready to Plug
3:50
and Play that's really nice so let's
3:52
touch upon this sound quality of this
3:54
microphone I've been using it for about
3:56
2 3 weeks and I've done a series of
3:58
tests uh recording on audio recording
4:00
interviews recording music it does very
4:03
well but what you need to keep in mind
4:05
is this microphone truly is a jack of
4:07
all trades though it does many things
4:09
very well it's not meant to replace a
4:11
microphone like say this sure smb7 which
4:15
is meant specifically for recording
4:16
vocals and it's the same microphone that
4:18
Michael Jackson used to record Thriller
4:20
this is going to do a great job but it's
4:22
not this microphone here's what I think
4:24
is most important to know about this
4:26
microphone it is an extraordinary value
4:29
you for about
4:31
$230 you can use this thing in all sorts
4:34
of situations whether it be a Skype call
4:36
to uh record yourself doing voiceovers
4:38
for video it does a lot of things very
4:41
well and then you can use USB and XLR
4:44
there's no other microphone out there
4:45
that I know of that will do all these
4:47
things and do them well there's not even
4:49
any microphone out there that I know of
4:51
that will do these things poorly I think
4:52
blue is the only one giving you this
4:54
much value in one solid ready to use
4:57
unit so if you just need a general all
4:59
around mic this is the one I would
5:01
recommend there's nothing else like it I
5:03
know that does this many things allinone
