head whenever I show you who can get
0:11
back some of the missing features in OS
0:14
10 line that are not shipping on new max
0:17
so a couple days ago I picked up a 27
0:19
inch imac and i was a couple things that
0:22
I was a little bit shocked to see first
0:24
of all when I wanted to system
0:25
preferences and under desktop and
0:28
screensaver you can see here that I have
0:30
all these wallpapers but when I got the
0:33
mac the only wallpapers that were there
0:35
or the ones in the desktop pictures
0:36
folder and none of the aqua blue ones
0:39
are these tiles or here and I had solid
0:44
colors as well none of these other
0:46
folders with nature plants are none of
0:49
those desktop pictures folders were
0:51
there so I didn't really like that i
0:55
always liked all the desktop pictures
0:56
that you would normally get so that
0:58
concerned me a little bit then when i
1:00
went to my Applications folder I noticed
1:02
that I did not have I web or I DVD now I
1:06
kind of understand why it didn't get
1:08
these apples have discontinuing them
1:10
with the death of the DVD drives in most
1:14
macs as well as I love with the death of
1:16
Mobile Bay but these were two
1:19
applications that i ought always liked
1:20
and still be used for so i wanted to get
1:23
these back say that's what i'm going to
1:25
show you how to do now to do all this
1:28
stuff you're going to have to have an
1:30
older mac running either snow leopard a
1:32
lion so if you're just purchasing a new
1:34
map for the first time this puddle work
1:37
out too well for you in this case i have
1:39
my old 20 inch imac connected via screen
1:41
turn over here and i'm going to show you
1:43
what you need to do so first off what i
1:46
did is i copied over the iWeb and idvd
1:48
applications from my old applications
1:51
folder to my new one and i thought i'd
1:53
be all fine and good now i would work
1:55
just fine but when i launched I EVD it
1:58
told me that the themes were missing so
2:00
to get the themes back what you're going
2:02
to have to do is go into your old back
2:05
into finder and then right in the road
2:08
of your hard drive going to the library
2:11
application support and then you
2:14
shouldn't found an ID BD folder here and
2:16
when you go over to your new mac your
2:18
don't want that same folder to be there
2:20
so in order to your main hard drive the
2:23
library application support can see here
2:26
that I have added iDVD folder here but
2:29
if you just copy over the I DVD
2:31
application you're not going to see this
2:34
folder with all the themes in it so what
2:37
you're going to have to do is take this
2:38
entire idvd folder with all the themes
2:40
in it you're going to have to copy that
2:42
over to your new mac and just place it
2:46
right in the application support folder
2:48
so you can see here without the idvd
2:50
folder in my application support folder
2:52
when i launched I DVD and I create a new
2:57
project and hit create it's hard to say
3:01
there's no themes installed and wants me
3:03
to look for themes so always to do is
3:05
drag in the I DVD folder it's going to
3:07
ask me to authenticate it but my
3:09
password like that is answer now it
3:12
copies over and now on our launch I DVD
3:16
could create the project create going to
3:20
see it load all the themes for the first
3:21
time take a look longer than normal and
3:23
then that you can see all the themes
3:26
will appear to put right here the next
3:31
thing I'm going to take care of is the
3:32
desktop wallpapers so you can see there
3:34
I already have all the desktop
3:36
wallpapers copied over but if you buy a
3:38
new mac you are not going to see these
3:41
there so what I did is I want to run to
3:43
my old Mac and we open up a new Finder
3:46
window you long to want to go into
3:47
library this one's a little bit simpler
3:49
you just going to desktop pictures and
3:53
in here you're going to see all the
3:55
desktop pictures as well as all the
3:56
different folders like solid colors etc
4:00
now here's what gets a little bit tricky
4:02
because if you just try to copy over the
4:04
entire text on pictures folder and you
4:06
take this folder and you go on to your
4:09
new mac and you go into the library and
4:12
you try to taste it right in this folder
4:14
to overwrite the old one it's not going
4:16
to let you so what you're going to have
4:18
to do is you want to have to go over on
4:21
your old Mac into the desktop pictures
4:24
folder and just select all the pictures
4:27
and folders in here using command a and
4:30
you're going to have to take all the
4:32
pictures that are inside and move those
4:36
inside of the desktop pictures folder to
4:39
make it work now I've done that here and
4:41
it's once again going to ask you to
4:44
authenticate it and it will copy over
4:46
all your pictures and folders it will
4:48
also give you a warning about
4:49
overwriting the photos since some of the
4:51
photos that are on the new Mac will also
4:54
exist on your old Mac able to do that
4:57
all you have to do is launch system
4:58
preferences and you're going to see all
5:00
these folders of pictures there so if
5:03
you've recently bought a new mac and
5:04
you're missing iowa and I DVD as well as
5:07
your desktop pictures I hope this kind
5:09
of clears things up for you as always if
5:11
you have any how to's that you'd like to
