hi i'm steve smith and you're watching
0:11
an episode of cult of mac's news roundup
0:14
josh has done very well today so i'm
0:15
taking this place to give you all this
0:17
week's best apple news in bite-sized
0:19
chunks and this week there's been tons
0:21
of it
0:22
so let's not waste any time and get
0:23
straight into it
0:39
so first off if you haven't heard this
0:41
news you must be living under a rock
0:43
this past week
0:44
apple finally unveiled its iphone 6
0:46
along with the iwatch at this week's
0:48
cupertino event
0:50
apple unveiled two iphones a 4.7 inch
0:52
iphone 6 along with an absolutely huge
0:55
iphone 6 plus with a 5.5 inch screen
0:58
both phones feature pretty much the same
1:00
internals with the iphone 6 plus
1:02
boasting a slightly bigger battery
1:05
both phones already able to pre-order on
1:06
the market around the world but the
1:08
iphone 6 and 6 plus don't go on sale to
1:10
the 19th along with the two iphone 6s
1:13
apple also unveiled its iwatch only for
1:16
it to be called the apple watch
1:18
it comes in two different size
1:19
variations a 38 millimeter and a 42 with
1:23
six different watch straps and it comes
1:25
in four different colors
1:26
including a rose gold and an 18 carat
1:28
gold
1:29
make sure to check out my apple watch
1:31
video to find out everything you need to
1:32
know about the apple wearable
1:34
the apple watch comes out in 2015 and
1:36
around 350 dollars
1:39
but now for some rumors and what else
1:41
apple could be working on on the same
1:43
day of the apple watch announcement the
1:45
us patent and trademarks office
1:47
published 47 newly granted patents to
1:49
apple among of which was an oculus rift
1:52
style headset which could be used as a
1:54
personal display device for given the
1:56
experience of watching a movie at a
1:58
movie theater all the way to gaming
2:00
but to be honest though i can't see
2:02
apple getting into the virtual reality
2:04
market anytime soon even though we've
2:06
seen patents like this since 2006. but
2:09
can you imagine if they did feeling like
2:11
you're in the same room as the person
2:12
you're facetiming that would be pretty
2:14
cool
2:16
next up though this one's hot off the
2:17
press and it's something that myself and
2:19
josh have been waiting for for a very
2:21
long time and it's finally looking like
2:23
a reality
2:24
as first reported in digi times monitor
2:26
vendors are looking into ultra hd
2:28
displays that are 27 inches up to 32
2:32
which could be in imax before the end of
2:34
2014. it's also worth noting that
2:36
redneck imax have been spotted in the
2:37
developer preview of erbusten yosemite
2:40
earlier this year with the growth of
2:42
tablets max and especially imax are
2:44
becoming the workhorse of the apple
2:46
family and i've always taken stencil
2:48
placement of graphic designers and video
2:49
editors and professionals alike so a
2:51
top-notch screen is definitely necessary
2:54
but if you can't wait for apple to
2:55
finally announce one there's always a
2:57
27-inch monitor from dell that you can
2:59
pick up with a resolution of 5120x280
3:03
which is a pretty awesome screen find
3:05
the link for that down below
3:07
but let's take a quick minute to thank
3:09
our friends over at lynda.com

3:42
call to mac that's lynda.com
3:46
forward slash cult of mac
3:51
but back to apple's event earlier this
3:53
week an apple tried to force a music
3:55
industry milestone by releasing
3:57
youtube's latest album which they played
3:59
the single love live at the event
4:01
completely free to all itunes users
4:04
but the pr stunt did fire back at apple
4:06
when thousands of iphone users found an
4:08
album they weren't looking for in their
4:10
purchase section as it wasn't an opt-in
4:13
freebie but less than one percent 0.4 to
4:16
be exact actually downloaded the album
4:19
and it's rumored that the deal cost
4:20
apple over 100 million dollars which has
4:23
only seen 2 million downloads from its
4:24
500 million itunes users
4:31
and last but definitely not least it
4:33
brings me much much sadness to announce
4:35
to you that the ipod classic is no more
4:38
shortly after the apple announcement
4:40
many shoppers found that the ipod
4:41
classic after serving faithfully in
4:43
apple's ipod lineup since 2009 was
4:45
removed from the apple website
4:46
completely but we all knew this was
4:48
coming for quite some time
4:50
in the world of apps and internet at
4:51
your fingertips the ipod classic sales
4:54
have been declining for some time and
4:56
with the addition of apple's sexy new
4:57
watch in the apple store the ipod got
4:59
the boots so rest in peace to the ipod
5:02
classic
5:03
we won't forget you
5:05

5:07
news in just a few minutes but don't
