0:04
hey everyone today I'm going to show you
0:05
some cool notification center tweaks
0:08
that you can install on your jailbroken
0:10
device that can really expand the uh
0:12
usefulness of notification center at
0:14
notification center how it appears
0:16
normally you can see it's pretty boring
0:19
uh pretty bland nothing much there and
0:21
that's really all you can do with it on
0:23
a stock device but with Cydia installed
0:27
there's a couple different things we can
0:28
install and none of these tweaks that
0:31
I'm going to show you require any
0:33
special sources that you have to add or
0:34
anything you can all find all these by
0:36
just searching for them so the best
0:38
tweak is probably springboard settings
0:40
so if we go and we open up springboard
0:42
settings and you can download this from
0:43
Cydia just Search SB settings that's all
0:46
you have to do you'll see all these
0:48
different options here now you don't
0:49
have to use springboard settings with
0:51
notification set but if you want to
0:53
you're going to want to disable the drop
0:55
down window and then you're going to
0:56
want to go down here and configure the
0:58
settings you want under iOS 5 plus the
1:00
notification so in this case you can
1:01
pick a theme and I really like the
1:03
serious theme it looks the best and uh
1:07
there's not much you really have to do
1:09
uh but the thing that you have to do to
1:10
turn it on is go up into settings and go
1:14
to Notifications and just like anything
1:16
else in notification center you have to
1:18
scroll down until you find it here so
1:20
you can see not in notification center
1:21
springboard settings I can switch that
1:23
on and now when I drop down springboard
1:26
you'll see I have this extra column here
1:28
of different quick settings so let's say
1:30
I want to turn my brightness up or down
1:32
it pops up a little brightness thing and
1:34
I can adjust that here I can also do
1:37
things like turn off Wi-Fi if I want to
1:39
I can turn it back on you know I can
1:41
make little quick notes Here uh there's
1:43
a lot of different settings and oops I
1:45
just launched weather but as you can see
1:47
there's just a lot of different stuff
1:48
you can do and if you scroll over you
1:50
can reload you can power off your device
1:52
and you can even bring down the classic
1:54
style menu there's also a neat tweak and
1:57
it's called respring now this is
1:59
something that you might want if you
2:00
don't use notification Setter all that
2:02
much uh because this takes up a lot of
2:04
space and you don't want something as
2:06
heavy as springboard settings sometimes
2:09
that can drain a little bit of battery
2:10
life uh if you just search respring in
2:12
cidia you can download this it's for
2:14
notification center if you turn it on
2:16
under notifications you'll see this
2:19
respring thing here and if I hit
2:21
respring all it's going to do is
2:22
respring my device now it takes up a lot
2:25
of room and it's not really the most
2:27
attractive thing so in my opinion it's
2:29
better to go with something like
2:31
springboard settings where I can just
2:32
hit restart springboard and it'll do
2:34
that for me but if you want something a
2:36
little more lightweight and you're not
2:38
concerned about it taking up a lot of
2:41
room something like re spring can help
2:43
you out and now on to two of my
2:45
favorites which are custom NC background
2:47
and blurried NC background so both of
2:50
these you can search in CIA once again
2:53
and what they do is let you use any
2:56
picture or a blurred background for
2:58
notification center so if I enable this
3:01
and I pick an image I can find a picture
3:03
I want to use for background so let's
3:05
say I want to choose this picture of the
3:07
Shor that I took so I can choose that
3:09
and if it's not uh oriented for the
3:13
iPhone's aspect ratio you can choose
3:14
full screen and after that if you just
3:16
open up notification center you'll see
3:18
that has used that as the background now
3:20
that's not obviously the best photo to
3:23
choose for uh notification center
3:25
background it actually looks pretty
3:26
terrible uh but you can see what you
3:28
could do with it here's something a
3:29
little bit nice here's uh the stone wall
3:31
and it's still not the best but you know
3:33
it looks nice and if you're getting
3:34
bored with the linen backgrounds and
3:36
everything it's a nice handy
3:38
tweak so now I'm going to disable this
3:41
because I want to show you blurried NC
3:43
background so I'm going to turn this
3:44
back on and there's a lot of different
3:46
options here so basically this just
3:47
blurs your background so you can see
3:49
right through notification center and
3:51
it's just blurred now there's a ton of
3:53
options here cuz I can turn on and off
3:54
the blur which I don't know why I really
3:56
want to do I can change the blur value
3:58
so if I want it really low I can look at
4:00
that you can see it's barely blurred at
4:02
all or I can turn it all the way up and
4:04
uh and now it kind of looks like fog
4:06
glass I can also change the color
4:08
opacity if I want to I can change the
4:11
background tint color so let's say I
4:12
want it yellow for some reason and I
4:15
want this blur value kind of down here
4:18
maybe the color opacity up a little bit
4:20
and now let's see how it looks so
4:22
there's a yellow look personally I think
4:24
it looks best with the blur value right
4:26
about there color opacity right about
4:28
there and and I use a black tint color
4:32
and I think it looks pretty nice and uh
4:35
especially if you're on your home screen
4:36
you can kind of get an idea of how
4:38
transparent it can be so I really like
4:41
this tweak and I think Apple should
4:43
actually ship notification center on its
4:45
devices with a blurred background like
4:47
this so there's how to customize
4:49
notification center in iOS 5 with some
4:50
nice cyia tweaks if you have anything
4:52
that you'd like to see me do a how to on
