iOS 18.2 drops a huge number of new
0:02
features on the iPhone the update which
0:04
is expected on Monday expands the
0:07
capabilities of Apple intelligence with
0:09
plenty of other goodies for everyone
0:10
else too let's dive
0:13
in apple intelligence is the set of AI
0:16
features that run on the iPhone 15 Pro
0:19
and iPhone 16 models in addition to
0:22
various newer Macs and iPads the second
0:25
round of the most anticipated Apple
0:27
intelligence features come in 18. to I
0:31
covered them in depth in this video here
0:33
but I'll quickly run through them again
0:35
image playground lets you create AI
0:37
images from scratch it's a standalone
0:40
app and it's also integrated inside
0:42
messages you can create images based on
0:45
images in your library or people you
0:47
know or from scratch using these easy to
0:49
use taable buttons or by typing in a
0:52
description image wand which is
0:54
integrated into apps like notes lets you
0:57
use image playground to convert a sketch
0:59
into to a drawing or to create an
1:01
original drawing based on the context of
1:04
the notes you have written if you're
1:05
ever annoyed that there isn't the right
1:07
Emoji for the occasion you can create
1:09
your own using gen emoji type in a short
1:12
prompt and it'll create an apple style
1:14
emoji that resembles various household
1:17
objects specific dog and cat breeds
1:20
other animals you can think of even
1:23
specific people named in your photo
1:25
library if you have an iPhone 16 visual
1:28
intelligence lets you look things up
1:30
using the camera click and hold to
1:32
launch it and click it again to take a
1:34
picture you can ask chat GPT to explain
1:37
what you're looking at or you can do a
1:39
Google reverse image search to look up
1:41
an object or a product other features
1:43
are more context dependent if you
1:45
capture an event poster you can quickly
1:48
add the event to your calendar with
1:49
relevant details or if you capture a
1:52
business like a restaurant or a store
1:54
you can quickly see their hours their
1:56
phone number their menu their website
1:58
and more sir is integrated with chat GPT
2:02
if you ask a question that Siri can't
2:04
answer instead of saying here's what I
2:06
found on the web It'll ask you if you
2:09
want to pass the question along to chat
2:11
GPT to give you its answer you can also
2:14
ask chat GPT what you're looking at if
2:16
you're reading an article browsing the
2:18
web or watching a video you can ask Siri
2:21
what's this and it'll send the
2:23
screenshot to chat GPT to give you its
2:26
explanation if you subscribe to Apple
2:28
news Plus in addition to the DA
2:30
crossword mini crossword and quiles word
2:33
games there's a new daily
2:36
Sudoku in fact there's actually three
2:39
daily sudokus easy moderate and
2:42
challenging the harder levels start with
2:45
fewer numbers on the board if you're not
2:47
familiar with the rules of sidoku it
2:49
gives you a helpful tutorial at the
2:50
beginning you can tap on a square to
2:52
select it and tap a number on the
2:54
keyboard to fill it in you can also
2:56
choose to take notes as well there's an
2:59
eraser to to clear a number and an undo
3:01
button to undo the last move without any
3:04
numbers on the board selected you can
3:06
tap on a number on the keyboard to see
3:08
all of those numbers highlighted and
3:10
when you fill in nine of any particular
3:12
number that number turns gray on the
3:14
keyboard so you know you're done with it
3:16
if you get stuck or if you find out
3:18
you've made a mistake there are a few
3:20
tools that can help you can show all of
3:22
the conflicts on the board you can show
3:24
all of the incorrect numbers and if you
3:27
want to give up you can reveal the
3:29
correct answers like all the games in
3:31
Apple news plus it logs your statistics
3:33
you can see your fastest time your
3:35
average time your average completion
3:38
rate and your daily streak you can share
3:40
your results and compete with your
3:42
friends on Game Center if you need help
3:44
finding a lost item with an air tag like
3:47
your luggage or your bag you can get
3:49
help from other people around you like
3:52
airport employees or friends and family
3:55
unlike sharing an air tag this new lost
3:58
mode is temp orary it's not like Doug
4:02
from the Chicago O'Hare Airport will be
4:04
able to see where your purse is
4:06
indefinitely open the find my app tap
4:08
the items Tab and tap on the air tag in
4:11
question you'll see a new lost air tag
4:14
section show contact info lets you add a
4:17
phone number or email address that
4:18
people can use to find you if they find
4:21
your item First share item location give
4:25
someone else temporary access to track
4:27
your air tag maybe if the item is is in
4:30
an employees only section you don't have
4:32
access to you can let somebody else
4:34
track your air tag and retrieve it for
4:35
you in iOS 18.2 Apple's mail app
4:39
automatically sorts your inbox into four
4:42
different categories primary is for your
4:45
direct personal communication with other
4:47
people transactions is for receipts and
4:50
Order
4:51
confirmations updates is for
4:53
notifications from online accounts and
4:55
services and promotions is for mailing
4:58
lists mass emails and other newsletters
5:01
you subscribe to the new mail categories
5:04
only appear on the iPhone it's not on
5:07
the Mac which is slightly understandable
5:10
considering the Mac App runs on a
5:11
completely different code base but it's
5:14
also not on the iPad which is a little
5:17
weird it's also not on the Vision Pro in
5:20
case anyone cared if you want to send
5:22
somebody a link to an article but you
5:24
don't need them to read the whole thing
5:26
they can just read a specific section
5:28
halfway down the page or even just a
5:30
single quote or a single sentence
5:32
there's a new easier way in Safari tap
5:36
and hold to select a bit of text then
5:39
from the pop-up menu swipe over and tap
5:42
copy link with highlight you can paste
5:45
that link in messages Notes mail
5:48
anywhere and when somebody opens that
5:50
link Safari will scroll to that section
5:53
and highlight that text in yellow the
5:55
iPhone 16 camera control has three new
5:58
settings and iOS
6:00
18.2 the first lets you mimic the
6:03
feature on a traditional camera where
6:05
you can half click the shutter button to
6:07
lock the focus and exposure in settings
6:10
camera control scroll down and enable AE
6:14
AF lock now you can half click and hold
6:17
the camera control and it'll lock the
6:19
focus and exposure on whatever is in the
6:22
middle of the frame in settings display
6:25
and brightness at the bottom of the page
6:27
there's a new Option called require
6:29
screen on with the setting enabled as it
6:32
is by default when your phone is locked
6:35
clicking the camera control once will
6:36
wake up the screen and clicking it a
6:38
second time will open the camera if you
6:41
disable the setting then you can launch
6:43
the camera straight away with a single
6:46
click of the camera control no matter
6:47
what finally in settings accessibility
6:50
camera control you can adjust the
6:52
threshold for how fast the double click
6:55
gesture works you can make it slow or
6:58
even slower if you have an i Ione 16 Pro
7:00
you can capture a multi-track audio
7:02
recording in The Voice Memos app this
7:05
can come in handy if you want to record
7:06
a quick music demo with multiple Parts
7:09
stacked on top of each other you can
7:12
self harmonize Acappella like a
7:14
barbershop quartet or you can layer
7:16
multiple instruments playing on top of
7:18
each other after recording the first
7:19
track tap the edit recording button to
7:22
the left with the icon of a waveform tap
7:25
the plus button on the right to add a
7:27
second track and tap record record
7:30
whenever you're ready if you want to do
7:32
one of the tracks over you can rewind to
7:34
the beginning toggle between track 1 and
7:36
two and tap replace to do it over you
7:40
can even tap playback settings in the
7:42
upper left and adjust the mix between
7:45
track 1 and two tap done and you can
7:47
save your multi-layer track or save it
7:49
to a separate recording you can import
7:52
it into logic pro on a Mac for advanced
7:54
editing finally here's a lightning round
7:57
of smaller new features and improvements
7:59
in the Apple intelligence writing tools
8:01
there's a new open-ended text prompt
8:03
where you can describe a specific change
8:05
you want to make to the text you can
8:07
also generate text from scratch using
8:09
chat GPT you can put a volume slider
8:11
back on your iPhone lock screen to
8:13
adjust the volume using touch controls
8:15
without unlocking your phone to enable
8:18
this go to settings accessibility audio
8:21
and visual and enable always show volume
8:24
control if you like using type to Siri
8:27
but you keep triggering the double tap
8:29
the home bar gesture accidentally
8:31
there's a new Option you can add a type
8:34
to Siri control to control center with
8:38
this added you can disable the gesture
8:40
in settings Apple intelligence and Siri
8:43
talk and type to Siri by disabling type
8:46
to Siri iOS 18.2 has an easier to use
8:49
all-in-one interface for managing which
8:52
apps serve as your default web browser
8:54
password manager email client and more
8:57
you can find this in settings scroll
9:00
down to apps and tap default apps some
9:03
of the categories don't have any
9:05
alternatives yet but as Apple continues
9:08
to be compelled in various parts of the
9:09
world to make iOS more modular this
9:12
feature may become more useful over time
9:14
you can set a volume limit on your
9:16
iPhone speakers if you want to protect
9:18
your hearing Health this will only
9:20
affect media like music podcasts and
9:23
videos alarms and phone calls will still
9:25
be able to use the maximum volume you
9:28
can find it in settings sound and
9:30
haptics limit volume by enabling limit
9:34
maximum volume and adjusting the slider
9:37
in settings apps Safari there's a new
9:40
option to Import and Export your
9:42
browsing history bookmarks and saved
9:45
passwords between Safari and a different
9:47
browser if for example you'd like to
9:49
check out an alternative Apple
9:51
intelligence now supports Regional
9:53
dialects of English localized to
9:55
Australia Canada New Zealand South

live in the European Union you can now
10:02
delete more of Apple's default apps from
10:04
your phone including messages photos
10:08
camera Safari and even the App Store
10:11

10:13
on iOS
