If your group chat or work messages start blowing up in the middle of a meeting, you'll
0:03
want to know how to silence your Apple Watch quickly, and you have a few different options
0:08
You can put your Apple Watch on silent mode from Control Center. You just click the side button
0:13
If you have an older model of Apple Watch, you can swipe up from the bottom of the watch face
0:19
From here, you make sure this bell button is red. If it's gray, then silent mode is off
0:25
If it's red, then you have it turned on. And again, your watch will still send you notifications, it'll just buzz instead of
0:33
make a sound. You can also put your watch on Do Not Disturb
0:37
This will completely silence your Apple Watch and your other connected Apple devices
0:41
You just click on this moon icon, tap Do Not Disturb, and you can set how long you want
0:48
it to stay on for. Indefinitely, one hour, until tomorrow morning or until this evening, or until you leave
0:55
the location where you're at. There's also theater mode, which I highly recommend you turn on when you go to a movie
1:01
theater, a play, or any other type of live show. Turning on theater mode turns on silent mode, but it also turns off the display
1:11
It won't turn back on when you raise your wrist, and if you have an always-on display
1:15
turned on, it'll temporarily be turned off. You have to tap the screen if you want to activate it
1:21
This is a great courtesy to other people in the audience, because otherwise the light
1:24
from your wrist might distract them. But at the end, you do have to remember to turn it back off
1:30
Here's another pro tip for you. If you ever get a notification that makes a loud noise, and you want to quickly turn
1:34
on silent mode, cover your hand over your watch for about three seconds
1:40
You'll feel a buzz, and then silent mode will be turned on. I'm D. Griffin Jones with Cult of Mac
