Apple TV plus is the streaming service
0:01
that initially launched with a focus on
0:03
quality over quantity but all these
0:06
years later they have the quantity too
0:09
there is so much good stuff to watch
0:11
here are the shows that all of us at
0:13
Cult of Mac are looking forward to
0:14
watching most in
0:18
2025 so in the first half of this video
0:20
I'm going to go over all of the shows
0:22
that are returning for a new season and
0:24
in the second half I'll talk about all
0:26
of the brand new series and what better
0:29
way to kick things off then to talk
0:30
about the most hotly anticipated season
0:32
2 of Apple's biggest and weirdest show
0:36
Severance which comes back January 17
0:40
the brains behind the show director Ben
0:42
Stiller and Creator writer Dan Erikson
0:45
both of whom serve as executive
0:47
producers on the show took three long
0:50
years to bring season 2 to air that's a
0:53
long time to figure out how to follow up
0:55
the dramatic and hugely popular first
0:58
season it introduced us to the crew of
1:00
Ines and Audis working for the
1:02
mysterious and seemingly Sinister Lumen
1:05
Industries and of course it explored the
1:08
disquieting weirdness of the company's
1:10
Severance brain surgery which separates
1:13
work and home memories with so much time
1:16
to plan write and produce season 2
1:19
hopefully our heroes in the macro dat
1:21
refinement Department with Supporting
1:23
Cast in Christopher Walkin and Patricia
1:25
Arquette won't suffer the same fate as
1:28
the characters of other popular
1:30
Blockbuster TV shows with somewhat
1:33
controversial bungled
1:35
endings anyways you can watch the first
1:38
8 minutes of the first episode of season
1:40
2 right now by clicking here the
1:43
previous seasons of Mythic Quest might
1:45
make it the quirkiest show on Apple TV
1:47
plus and that's with plenty of
1:50
competition the gamer themed workplace
1:52
comedy is populated with a cast of
1:54
deeply eccentric characters in one crazy
1:57
situation after another personality
1:59
disorders range from one boss who's
2:01
immensely egotistical to another that's
2:04
deeply neurotic and don't forget the
2:06
sociopath yet somehow Mythic quests
2:08
writers make these characters genuinely
2:11
likable and relatable you'll root for
2:13
them as they have to deal with underage
2:16
game streamers racist Gamers and so much
2:20
more the series returns to Apple TV Plus
2:22
for its fourth and final season starting
2:24
on January 19 but a spin-off series
2:28
aptly titled side quest Launches on
2:30
March 26 criminal record is a pretty
2:33
typical crime mystery drama you start
2:36
with a simple phone call to the police
2:38
that isn't entirely what it seems
2:40
kicking off an investigation that adds a
2:42
brand new twist or Revelation at just
2:46
the right pace to keep you hooked the
2:48
whole way through there are literally
2:50
dozens of shows in this exact format but
2:53
only criminal record Stars the amazing
2:56
Peter kapali who you may know from
2:58
Doctor Who and and the thick of it Peter
3:01
kapali is one of the most magnetic
3:04
captivating and finest actors on
3:06
television today you come for Peter
3:09
Capaldi and you learn to appreciate his
3:11
co-star and co-executive producer Kush
3:14
jumbo along the way I'm looking forward
3:16
to seeing more of the pair in season 2
3:18
For All Mankind is an alternate history
3:21
series that begins with the Soviet Union
3:24
landing on the moon first before the
3:27
United States in 1969 the B race never
3:30
ends with the Cold War superpowers
3:32
continuing to up the ante over the years
3:35
causing Rippling effects throughout
3:36
history that multiply as the seasons go
3:38
on the rotating cast of characters
3:41
rarely Has a Miss they're all
3:43
brilliantly written perfectly cast and
3:46
captivating actors to watch season 4
3:49
ended with Margo one of the main
3:51
characters and Brilliant rocket
3:53
scientists being captured and arrested
3:55
by authorities and a colony on Mars
3:58
going rogue in stealing an asteroid to
4:00
mine for its own use so how will this
4:04
affect life on earth when season 5 picks
4:06
up in the year 2012 Apple TV plus
4:09
deserves heaps of credit for foundation
4:12
not only for the ambition of adapting
4:15
Isaac aov's epic series of novels about
4:17
a Galactic Empire in Decline but for
4:20
turning out a lavishly expensive and
4:22
greatl looking hit out of the first two
4:25
seasons after some cost cutting delays
4:28
and changes behind the scenes
4:30
season 3 hit production in March 2024
4:33
and should air sometime in
4:36
2025 but the question is will it stay
4:39
great probably in asimov's classic story
4:43
much Abridged to make for the series
4:45
modern cinematic TV brilliant
4:47
mathematician Dr Harry Seldon realizes
4:50
the Galactic Empire spanning solar
4:53
systems and galaxies like a metastasized
4:56
Rome run by a long line of cloned
4:59
emperors
5:00
is doomed to collapse and his efforts to
5:02
create the foundation group to preserve
5:05
humanity and civilization becomes
5:07
outlawed activity across time and space
5:11
the first season of the Apple TV plus
5:13
series starring Godzilla was a big hit
5:16
and Monarch Legacy of Monsters season 2
5:19
is due before the end of 2025 season 1
5:23
had our characters one played by screen
5:25
Legend Kurt Russell discovering that
5:28
there are giant monsters hiding all over
5:30
the Earth the Monarch organization from
5:33
the monsterverse films studies them
5:36
while trying to keep the US military
5:38
from killing them we already know Season
5:40
2 takes place on Skull Island so expect
5:42
King Kong to feature prominently in the
5:45
upcoming episodes Monarch Legacy of
5:47
monsters is pure unadulterated Kaiju fun
5:51
when Apple TV plus began adapting Mick
5:54
Haron spy novels into the slow horses TV
5:57
series we loved the show and quick
5:59
quickly devoured all eight novels
6:02
they're as compulsively readable as the
6:05
series is Darkly funny about a crew of
6:08
MI5 intelligence agents one step away
6:11
from dismissal and we can look forward
6:13
to rumpled former super spy Jackson lamb
6:16
tightly wound MI5 number two Diana
6:18
tavner and the rest of the Stellar cast
6:21
in season 5's heart pounding new
6:23
episodes in 2025 and season 6 has
6:27
already been green lit as well you'd be
6:29
hard press to find somebody less suited
6:31
for a career and highway robbery than
6:34
English sweetheart null fielding and
6:36
that's what makes the completely madeup
6:38
Adventures of Dick Turpin such a fun
6:41
comedy what if England's most infamous
6:44
robber and murderer was actually a
6:46
pretty nice guy Turpin and his band of
6:49
Misfits deal with guards Thief takers
6:52
witches and their genuinely dangerous
6:55
Rivals and yet somehow always come out
6:58
on top season 2 is on the way although
7:01
we don't know exactly when Apple TV plus
7:03
puts out the occasional movie and the
7:06
trailer for The Gorge sets up an
7:08
intriguing
7:09
mystery what's at the bottom of this big
7:12
Gorge the film focuses on two agents
7:14
played by mil teller and Anya Taylor joy
7:17
as they set out to guard the creepy
7:19
gorge in the earth and find out what
7:22
mysterious evil lurks within the gorge
7:25
also has a dose of romance and so it'll
7:27
be premiering on Valentine's Day day if
7:30
you're a fan of the wire then you should
7:32
mark your calendars for the premiere of
7:34
dope thief on March 25th set in
7:36
Philadelphia dope Thief is a crime drama
7:39
starring Brian Tyree Hill from bullet
7:42
train and Wagner MOA from narcos these
7:45
two friends hit on the Perfect Crime
7:47
pose as DEA agents and Rob drug dealers
7:50
who are too small to ever report it they
7:52
hit it big but too late realize they
7:55
robbed the wrong guy a big-time drug
7:58
dealer who won't report it but will kill
8:01
anyone and everyone involved it sounds
8:04
like an interesting premise and it has a
8:05
great casting crew including one episode
8:08
directed by Ridley Scott with the studio
8:11
Apple TV plus is finally making its
8:13
contribution to a story genre that loads
8:17
of people love to hate the movies and
8:19
shows Hollywood makes about itself so
8:23
maybe we're just looking forward to
8:25
hating it we'll see will the new show
8:27
which comes from actor writer producer
8:30
Seth Rogan reach the greates of Barton
8:32
Frink or Barry or will it just suck
8:35
self- importantly like the player or The
8:38
Last Tycoon the studio features Rogan as
8:41
the head of an embattled and totally
8:43
made up Continental Studios with a cast
8:46
that includes not only the reliably
8:48
funny Rogan but Katherine O'Hara kathern
8:51
Han and guest star Brian Cranston plus
8:54
guest spots by the likes of Martin
8:55
scorey and Charlie Theon well it could
8:58
be a blow Hollywood
9:00
monstrosity or it could be hilarious to
9:03
be honest the premise of government
9:05
cheese doesn't sound like a great show
9:08
on paper it's build as a surrealist
9:10
family comedy set in the San Fernando
9:12
Valley in 1969 it tells the tale of a
9:15
man newly released from prison who has
9:18
trouble readapting to family life it
9:21
sounds Dreadful and describing the
9:23
comedy as surrealist could just be a
9:26
gentle way of saying that it's going to
9:28
be painful fully unfunny but it stars
9:31
the amazing David ooo an award-winning
9:35
British American actor best known for
9:37
playing Martin Luther King in Selma oelo
9:41
is always fantastic but he's never done
9:44
a comedy before so we'll be checking out
9:46
government cheese surrealist or not
9:48
murderbot has just a great premise the
9:51
sci-fi thriller follows the complicated
9:54
feelings of a killer robot that has
9:57
become sentient and has started to
9:59
empathize with its victims murderbot has
10:02
to hide its Free Will and its secret
10:05
lifelong dream to be left alone and
10:08
watch TV based on an award-winning
10:11
series of acclaimed novels the 10-part
10:13
series stars Alexander scars guard is
10:16
directed by Chris and Paul whites and
10:18
foundation's David sger is running the
10:21
show although it has been adapted into a
10:23
video game and a graphic novel William
10:26
Gibson's Landmark 1984 cyberpunk Punk
10:29
novel Neuromancer has never been adapted
10:32
into a TV show until now or at least
10:35
sometime relatively soon at any rate if
10:39
Apple can credibly adapt a Sci-Fi
10:42
Behemoth like Foundation it can probably
10:44
make the most out of Neuromancer as well
10:48
I mean fans of neither show would have
10:50
ever thought it possible to be seen
10:52
reasonably on screen until this
10:54
particular golden age of big budget
10:56
streaming television Gibson's novel
10:58
which when the prestigious nebula Philip
11:00
K dick and Hugo Awards served as part
11:03
one of a Trilogy with two more books
11:06
following show creators gram Roland and
11:09
JD Dillard are working directly with
11:11
Gibson on the adaptation Star City will
11:14
be a For All Mankind spin-off depicting
11:17
the same series of events from the
11:19
perspective of the Soviet Union while
11:22
For All Mankind has taken the series
11:24
well into the mid 2000s Star City will
11:27
take a peak behind the Iron Curtain
11:29
starting over back in the late' 60s in
11:32
real life the cccp never succeeded in
11:35
building its lunar N1 rocket so maybe
11:38
we'll see what it would have taken for
11:40
that to be possible and fans of For All
11:43
Mankind are looking forward to seeing
11:44
the return of some familiar faces like
11:47
Ros Cosmos director Sergey nikolov and
11:49
with that we have our list of the most
