select stream let's see if that worked are we live or not I have no idea
0:09
but I'm surprised that LS didn't really have any weird gas issu oh geez never mind I spoke too soon oh he must
0:15
actually be live then yeah that's mean you're a
0:24
bully put a cork in it leis
0:30
remember that where did that go put a cork in it we used to have so many great sayings
0:36
leis they're all gone yeah have have you did two of you ever watched Happy Days not in a long
0:43
time not in a long time they would end a scene like the button like the comedic end like punch line to end a scene would
0:49
just be something stupid like ah sit on it potsy like as if that that's a joke that means
0:56
anything and then it becomes funny eventually I mean that was a catchphrase was it yeah I gotta look up so much I
1:04
never heard it but it does sound Vaguely Familiar I need to look up old sayings that people used to have that are no
1:12
longer around I'm going to bring them back like put a cork in it that's one that just me
1:17
timbers shim me timbers that's a great one give him the 23 sco ah like I I saw
1:24
a Tik Tok video of a guy doing like a whole series of them he's like whatever happened to I don't give a rat's ass
1:30
speaking of rats dude I don't know what's going on in my house we might have a rat problem my wife my wife
1:37
mentioned to me last night oh no no no she mentioned it to me like two weeks ago and I was like I haven't heard anything but last night I'm sitting on
1:43
my couch and I'm like I'm hearing these crazy noises and I get up and I start walking towards my bathroom and it
1:49
sounds like two rats are fighting you know over some in your house it it was
1:55
in it sounded like so I couldn't quite tell it sounded like it was either in my bathro
2:00
wall or underneath my bathroom and I couldn't tell and as soon as they walked over there it completely stopped and we
2:08
have like this utility closet where our our heater sits and I was like maybe they got in there you know cuz like a
2:14
month ago my wife went in there and there was like this bag of Halloween candy that we had stored in there all
2:20
gone all the Halloween candy all gone oh dear but there's no rats in there or
2:26
there's no turds you know that's usually what you find are the rat turds like that's the giveaway so I wasn't sure
2:31
like we leave that door open all the time um just cuz people forget to close it so I was like I don't know if they
2:37
got in and they ate the candy and left or if they're actually getting away and rats are insane they will chew through
2:43
anything they'll chew through wire they'll chew through carbon fiber steel barriers it does not matter they will
2:50
chew through it eventually and all the all all the candy was gone we had a rat problem when we had
2:57
the crack house next door oh yeah did you go say you dirty rat there's another
3:03
one the rats they would uh they actually did they chewed through our floor wow from our from our garage up upstairs
3:10
into our house I was I I had a BB gun one time my wife came down and I was sitting like waiting for this thing to
3:16
come out uh LS Wallace Bounty Hunter rodent
3:21
Bounty Hunter you're like the dog of the Rat world stupid thing dang if they I
3:27
mean I've heard like scrambling in my walls ever since I moved into this house really but you know once they breach the walls that's that's when you got to take
3:33
action you got to burn the whole house down yeah man rats tee are made of like
3:38
adamantium it's like they could literally Che through absolutely anything they make it into everywhere
3:44
and they're so smart I used to have pet rats when I was in elementary school they are supremely intelligent beings
3:50
they're they're they're smarter than most humans that I know which says a lot about the friends I keep
3:57
but I don't know so now I have to like figure out what's going on if we have a ratat problem or not which if they're in
4:03
the walls that's like the worst kind of problem to have you know and I have an
4:08
old house like there's probably some gaps and you got pets and I got a lazy
4:13
good for nothing dog that TR traps are probably out of the question uh if they're underneath my
4:20
house if they're underneath my house if the city of Seattle would allow me to fire a rifle within the city limits I
4:27
might try to go that direction you know gun flamethrower how about that I don't know if flamethrowers are legal like I
4:33
I'd put like one of those like 16x scopes on it I up being a ghilly suit on my roof just just waiting actually you
4:41
you know what and this is this is honest advice um get yourself a rat zapper what
4:47
is that it's a uh well they make the ones that I have were industrial strength ones and and those were they're
4:54
basically just a metal tube yeah you know it's flat on the bottom and there it's got these two
5:00
electrical leads that go off of it to this battery pack that has like I don't know six D cells 800 volts yeah and so
5:08
the you put some a little bit of food in the center of that thing and it it sits on a plate like a metal
5:14
plate and that's not heavy enough to trigger it but when the rack goes in the
5:20
plate you know drops down and it completes the circuit and then you pick
5:25
up the tube and dump the dead rat out dang it's hardore it's you know it's
5:31
it's F way better than like you know glue traps which can you know be
5:38
a a big mess and they're not very Humane and rat traps I mean my God one time we
5:43
had rat traps we hired we we hired a guy actually cuz we were like oh my God
5:48
these rats are all over our house what are we going to do and this guy put rat traps in our house we went we had like a
5:53
gig we went away for the weekend we came home a the house smelled like hell and B
5:59
it looked like a scene from Pulp Fiction there was blood all over the place oh my gosh that's when we discovered the rat
6:05
zappers the rat zapper is a fantastic the rat zapper rat zapper it's a
6:10
fantastic I have to look that up I think I may have just had one of the best ideas in my entire
6:15
life rat stew the ratapult it's a device with
6:23
cheese the rat goes in when it's on the plate fully the gas powered piston
6:30
activates B launches that rat about 300 feet into the air preferably towards
6:36
your neighbor's house yeah oh my God oh my the ratapult man that that's a good
6:42
name that's that's trademark trademark we need to make this happen because you know what
6:50
happens my my neighbor says there's two kinds of people in this world people who have rats and people that don't know they have rats because when we moved in
6:58
we had almost no rats and then uh as it's happening all throughout my neighborhood here in Seattle cuz I live
7:05
in like an older neighborhood old houses is the house next door within like three or four months got sold and then they
7:12
tore it down and when they tear down the house all the rats on the whole property flee right and they all came into my
7:19
heart and they've been here ever since well you know what ratapult says it's time to send them back you're just
7:25
you're just like starting your car in the morning and you hear this and then all of a
7:31
sudden this rat just like hits your windshield and explodes the ratapult man
7:37
I like it I gota make this happen I'm not sure it it would be legal but rats have no rights right Seattle they
7:44
probably have more rights than you might be true actually there's like rodent's tenant laws you know I gotta make sure I
7:52
read them their rights all right look the ratapult man that that's it that's going to make me the millions I
7:58
need to get off this this hellscape of a podcast all right
8:06
gez oh okay it seems like you might be able to
8:12
get sued of a of a if a errant rat falls on some lady on her jog just pegs her
8:18
you know coming down at like terminal velocity you're like what is
8:27
that hits you right in the neck you get you can get yourself a uh like a wagon
8:32
like that guy had in D Jango and chain with the like the bouncing tooth on you have a I never saw bouncing rat all
8:41
right let's see here I think we're good to roll I gotta be out of here in one hour cuz we I'm glad we just wasted 15
8:47
minutes well not to mention the 25 minutes what you were doing whatever you were doing refilling your your Chi and
8:53
your water bottle and all that stuff fixing Garage Band which decided to add an echo effect to L's audio right before
8:59
that was so awesome all of a sudden it's like God is that you
9:04
okay let's see here let me queue up Mrs you know who and we'll get this thing rolling oh Mrs
9:12

9:18

9:25
want to hear any more about that I thought that was only Richard Gear is that a real thing it's a story I heard long ago but I hope it's not real please
9:31

10:29
maning leis walls is here like a good AP style tip first
10:36
thing in the morning also with us this is the only hour of the day when his eyes are exposed to sunlight the
10:43
remaining hours they'll be hidden behind the Vision Pro even while he's sleeping he's a rider of CAC Griffin Jones is
10:51
here good evening Aon I have to ask oh did you buy a computer last week well I
10:58
intended to but I was at an all you can eat
11:04
waffle uh all you cany waffle Cafe all last week agonizing over my purchase in
11:14
what can only be described as one of the most painful and agonizing decisions of my adult life what MacBook Pro do you buy what
11:22
iPad do you buy it's been years since I've purchased either it's I think my last iPad I purchased in 2018
11:30
and that thing's still going strong so I think that might be what we lead with I spent two hours probably two and a half
11:37
hours actually in two different sessions at the Apple Store sessions pixel
11:43
peeping to the nth degree I had two MacBook Pros literally side by side one
11:49
with the Nano texture one without and I was literally opening up photos opening
11:54
up videos Final Cut Pro logic going back and forth back and forth back and they must has entered the chat I was hunched
12:02
over like this and squinting those things like butt sticking way out there
12:08
were probably people trying to get to those MacBook Pros I was like uh-uh these are taken and I think I finally
12:14
arrived at at a decision I know how I'm going to spe my machine and uh I was going to reveal all
12:20
that here on the show today and then tell you about my first encounter with the Nano Nano texture displays on the
12:28
new mcup Pros staring at them for as long as I did I think I came to to some
12:33
really interesting discoveries and conclusions so we'll talk about those I I hope I'm not hyping it up too much but
12:39
it really was an interesting experience before we dive in I want to thank Squarespace for supporting this episodes

14:57
cultcast all right sending it back to me for the
15:03
big reveal let me just start by saying two and a half hours maybe in the
15:08
Apple Store sitting there looking at iPads looking at MacBook Pros what do I
15:14
want to buy do I want a 15 inch or the 14inch or the 16inch and doing tons and tons and tons
15:20
of research I finally decided I am going to go with the 14inch I'm not sure I'm
15:25
making a horrendous mistake I have been one of the people that have said don't buy the the 16in because of the
15:32
throttling that happens because that computer is unable to cool itself I mean don't buy the 14in what did I just say
15:38
the 16inch yeah don't buy the 16 thank you don't buy the um 14inch because its cooling system isn't adequate enough to
15:45
cool the M4 Max or the M3 Max but
15:50
Apple's done a little trick this year where they only allow you to get is it 32 GB of RAM unless you upgrade to the
15:57
M4 bend the M4 Max so if you want more RAM you have to upgrade to the best m4
16:04
Max chip which is one of my motivations to do it I also have been doing tons of research online which there isn't enough
16:10
to be honest with you there was more for the M3 generation but I did see some videos where people benchmarked the M3
16:16
Max the unbin version and the M the 14-inch version MacBook Pro did okay
16:23
like it actually wasn't really throttling that bad at all so I'm not really sure what to believe
16:29
I mean holding in your hands that M that machine is so light that it almost makes
16:34
it feel like it couldn't possibly be powerful because it just doesn't have like the substantial weight of the
16:40
16inch version and because it's not big I mean it it it doesn't have the metal
16:48
Mass needed to I think appropriately or quickly cool down the the unbin max chip
16:54
but I'm going to find out that's going to be the one that I get so the next decision was am I going to go silver or
16:59
space gray I should pull this up or space black I'm so bummed that Apple got rid of the space gray cuz that really
17:06
was my favorite color and I wasn't really sure that I would love the space
17:11
black and to be honest I'm not sure that I do but it does look really good in person and at least to my taste like the
17:19
silver just kind of looks a little bit cheap and I don't really know how else
17:24
to explain it like it just doesn't feel as refined as the space black and so for that reason and this was one
17:32
of the hardest parts of the decision I decided to go with the space black and I
17:37
figure you know what I'll probably have this machine for like two and a half years and if I don't love it then I'll
17:43
go with something else plus I do have a two-e return policy but out of silver and space black I do think that space
17:49
black space black looks better are you gonna show us oh there we go yeah there it is there it is right there I thought
17:54
maybe you'd you're I was I was vamping why I pulled it up cam wasn't working no bur wasn't working you're big your big
18:01
setup I also like that the space black has like a like more of like a slippery smooth finish whereas the um
18:10
uncoated silver aluminum it feels more uh like porous and rough
18:18
which I actually don't enjoy and I just don't think it I just don't think it looks as um high class as the space
18:26
black does like the space black has like this depth to it that the more I look at I really kind of like so that's the
18:33
color that I'm going for then the other question was okay how much storage how much RAM I have this compulsion to
18:42
always get the best at Apple sells and I don't want to be inhibited in any way in performance even though I probably would
18:49
be fine with 48 gabt just to be extra sure I decided to go with 64 gigs of RAM
18:54
because that's going to put me in the territory of where there's really nothing I would ever do with this machine that would would would take me past or
19:01
even probably close 64 gigs so that's the ram that I'm going with level remix
19:07
from the chat is saying space gray greater than space black I totally agree man I I the space gray was such a
19:14
classic classic classy color I'm really disappointed they got rid of it it is still available on uh the lower tier
19:21
macup pros and on the MacBook or of the iPad Airs but alas not for the machine
19:26
that I want um although they did tell me at the Apple Store that silver is by far the most popular selling model but
19:33
silver is the iconic yeah Apple color in my opinion I was always disappointed with space gray I thought it was like
19:40
too middling gray to be that much different or look any better I and you know you end up with a computer that
19:46
doesn't actually look that much darker and it just doesn't match your silver accessories so I've I've always been midd on Space gray but yeah I mean I
19:53
that was also one of the things I wanted a computer that matched my studio display but then I started thinking about it and I'm like my current machine
19:59
is space gray and doesn't match my silver Studio display so I don't know
20:04
that I'll even notice once you get it and again there is something about that silver finish that just kind of looks
20:11
and feels cheap to me uh or cheaper than the space black I know that it's really popular I would probably be happy if I
20:18
got it but I got to make a decision so I I decided to go with space black so then we arrive at the SSD how much is the
20:27
right size for me because I'm going to be editing videos and oh yes I will be making my return to YouTube I've already
20:32
got a video planned out that I'll be starting with your fingers right I'm doing I I think I inherited this from
20:38
Trump like these are the Trump Talking Hands you know leis everybody says silver but I like the space black how's
20:45
that gotta play The Invisible accordion though oh that's right uh so I decided
20:52
to go with two terabytes I was toying with the idea of four but the cost for four is totally and completely
21:00
outrageous and absurd and I refuse to give Tim Cook that much gravy it's like
21:05
an extra, for the 4 terabyte and what I what I realized is I went so there's a
21:10
really great here's a tip for you there is a free tool called oh my gosh I
21:17
forget the name of it now um it's from the Omni company it's called Omni dis
21:22
sweeper and it's a great tool they've had it around forever and again it's free you just download it and then you
21:28
could do a full drive scan and it will show you where all your storage space is being taken up and what I realized is I
21:34
have a bunch of old Final Cut videos and libraries still on my machine that are taking up like 700 gigabytes of space so
21:41
I was like oh shoot I I it looks like I have only like 800 gigabytes of space left but in actuality I have like 1.5
21:48
terabytes of space that I could use for videos and I'm like that seems like it
21:54
would be enough Final Cut and xcode they will just vacuum and Hoover up every
21:59
available disc like gigabyte of space if you ever open them like if you if you ever open Final Cod or X code they will
22:05
just take it all logic too because it will try to install all these sound libraries that you may not actually need that just take up so anyway Omni disc
22:12
sweeper great tool because you know it will show you where all your space is and then I need to bring my computer up
22:18
here so I can connect it to my um 10g uh switch and start dumping all this stuff
22:23
onto my Nas so two terabytes so now we arrive at the final question the one that that you may all be wondering
22:30
nanotexture or not nanotexture I have always been a glossy screen person I do
22:37
not like matte displays and I don't really know why but I think it's because
22:44
often times you lose contrast you lose color rendition you lose saturation and
22:49
I not seen the nanotexture display on the new Macbook Pros I may have seen it
22:55
on maybe the maybe like the uh the the premium like xdr studio monitor
23:02
what is the name of that actual monitor isplay Pro display xdr thank you as far as I know you weren't even considering
23:08
this last I wasn't even considering it what made you think to look were they just like in the store and you wanted to
23:14
so I was just sitting there looking at MacBook Pros and I was looking at one in particular and the guy the Apple guy
23:20
standing around was like that one has the Nano texture display and I was like oh my gosh you're right and I wouldn't
23:28
even necessarily have noticed if he had said something because it is a Marvel in
23:35
screen technology I I was blown away at how good it was it you when you're
23:41
looking at it headon it does an unbelievable job at minimizing glare and
23:47
that's when I started so the two MacBook Pros one with the glossy display one with the nanotexture display we side by
23:54
side so I started doing comparisons back and forth to see like what are the weak weaknesses of this coating because the
24:01
strength is once you're told that you're looking at it is like so obvious the
24:06
minimization of the glare behind you and around you which on those glossy displays happens in so many different
24:13
scenarios is is uh really tiresome for my eyes like when I looked at the
24:21
nanotexture display I felt like my eyes relaxed and it brought the SK the screen
24:26
to life in a very cinematic way like it's almost looking at Living paper like living photographs and the pictures I
24:33
looked at on it looked way more natural the videos looked better I thought in many ways on a screen with a nano
24:41
texture display because they just looked more lifelike and it really added like
24:47
this realism to the photos and videos that I was looking at and it makes the
24:52
screen and the MacBook Pro so much more useful because you can take it more places and not have glare all over the
24:59
place which again if you have a shiny device I don't think you necessarily even realize how much glare you're
25:05
getting and then I started thinking about some of my favorite displays that I have like my um my Sony television and
25:12
I'm like it has a matte display and that thing looks absolutely gorgeous so the technology the Nano
25:19
display technology is just I think probably the best that exists it's definitely the best that I've seen a lot
25:26
of displays use like use like a spray coating which minimizes reflection but
25:31
it also minimizes color saturation contrast and the nanotexture
25:38
display pretty much looks like a normal screen except for the fact that there's no glare now going back and forth
25:45
between the two displays pixel pimp peeping to the nth degree I would say I did notice a slight
25:54
reduction in specular highlights like the brightness of things that are on this like there was a movie I watched in
26:00
iMovie of these cars racing around a track and I kept pausing it and the headlights looked slightly dimmer right
26:08
just just just like 2% slight slightly dimmer so it is there and there is maybe
26:14
a slight reduction in viewing angle I think like if you're off center then maybe the screen doesn't pop as much but
26:21
other than that what about Clarity and and fuzziness could you see that the pixels were a little fuzzier no no I
26:27
mean they if get a magnifying glass out maybe but from the distance that you
26:33
stand from the Monitor and and I was even going closer than that I was like literally putting my my face up into
26:38
this thing and going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth you may see like a 2% reduction in Clarity
26:45
and maybe contrast but would you notice it I just don't think so and what you gain I think
26:52
is so much more practical and useful than what you lose so I'm going to bring
26:58
for it man I'm going to go for the Nano texture display which again I don't typically like matte displays I have
27:05
always avoided them but this one is in a class of its own it is just the best
27:12
matte display that I've seen and the one concern that I have is the longevity of
27:18
the Nano texture display right like they want you to use like a very special cloth and I was asking the the guys
27:26
around me I'm like hey how many of these do you see come in for issues and they're like oh we don't really see them come in very often but we have seen
27:32
issues on the demo models where people don't use the right cloth and it actually damages the screen because it's
27:37
etched into the screen I'm like I'm like dude that's irksome like a a microfiber
27:43
cloth actually can damage the screen so I don't really know how I feel about that but as a purveyor of cleaning
27:51
cloths well that is true and they said that like do you know who I am and
27:56
that's I push the guy on the shoulder I'm like do you even know who you're talking to Pal and and and I think the
28:02
Polish cloth like the cat cloth um car cloth I think probably would work fine
28:08
but I don't know what Apple's cloth does or how it's constructed that it doesn't
28:13
harm the studio display or the um Nano texture display so I'm like I don't know
28:18
if I want to risk it and I've said that on this show too I'm like if you want to risk it let me know how it goes but I don't know that I would want
28:25
to but that I would say the Nano texture part was aside from the color was the
28:31
most excruciating part of the experience cuz like again I wasn't planning on even
28:37
entertaining the Nano texture display and I'm not totally sure that I want it but it's so dang good that I'm like you
28:43
know what I'll give it a shot I'll take one for the team I'll probably make some YouTube videos about it I'll be able to
28:49
talk about it here on the show and let you all know what I think now if I may switch
28:54
topics I'm also looking at iPads and I have decided to go with a 13in iPad Pro
29:01
like that thing is so big and beautiful and so much fun to write on I don't
29:08
really find people have commented that it's too big it's too heavy and that may be true I I have to live with it for a
29:14
while like I could see myself using it for two weeks and deciding that it's too big I don't think that it's too heavy
29:19
it's only maybe a third of a pound more than the 11inch iPad Pro which I don't
29:26
think is onor but that big beautiful display just having that huge display
29:32
that you can hold in your hands like that I I just think I would get a lot of utility out of it and I do like drawing
29:38
on it a lot with the apple pencil the new features they added for reducing the lag of the apple pencil and showing you
29:45
like where your cursor is going to land actually make it a much more enjoyable experience to use than my current iPad
29:53
now the funny thing is with the iPad Pro you can also get that with the nanotexture display display if you Fork
29:59
it over you have to get like the like the one or two terab model to even have access to that feature but I actually
30:06
don't like it on the iPad I feel like the iPad display loses some
30:12
inherent like character and soul with the nanotexture applied to it that the
30:18
MacBook Pro doesn't lose how does that work I don't know but I liked the glossy display you're poking the iPad yeah
30:24
maybe and it does feel different too like the Nano texture has like this papery feel to it um and it just just
30:32
doesn't have like the same level of Sheen than that the glossy display has
30:38
so I'm going to go with the 13-inch Bas MacBook Pro um or the iPad Pro um and I
30:46
could see myself using that for a week because I use it in bed a lot and just deciding that it might be too large I don't think the weight's going to bother
30:52
me I think it's going to be the size of anything like when I'm laying there like I actually cut out a 13inch shape out of
31:01
cardboard and I took it to bed with me and I I sat it on my chest and because
31:07
the the 11-inch iPad Pro I can sit down on my chest and my hand with my elbow
31:13
resting on the bed can touch the top with ease and I was worried that that wouldn't be true about the 13inch so I
31:20
put it on my chest and I put my elbow on my bed as I was laying down and I was like I was like oh yeah I barely touch
31:26
like is that going to become annoying to me but like having the extra screen real estate to like browse websites and
31:31
having a larger YouTube video picture and picture this is totally TMI so like when I'm in my bed you know going to bed
31:38
going to sleep I read for a little while and then I have a YouTube video picture and picture on my iPad and with the
31:43
larger screen I get to have a larger video which I think I'm going to enjoy and like photos and stuff on the larger
31:50
iPad Pro just kind of spring to life and people always say it's too big they're like it's too big to take on an airplane
31:56
it's too big to do this it's too big do that I'm like talk about don't talk to me about big bro I mean the 16-in
32:03
MacBook Pro that thing's big that that computer I didn't realize that I'm one
32:09
of the few people that goes for the larger model I think everyone else goes for like the smaller 14-inch version the
32:14
16inch is like a pound and a half heavier it is massive and I find myself not wanting to use it because it is so
32:21
big and I definitely don't want to take it anywhere because it's almost 6 lb that's a big boy like the like the 13in
32:27
iPad Pro being 1.33 lb I'm like oh oh no 1.3 lb I'm like do some push-ups that's
32:34
the problem the problem isn't the iPad Pro the problem is your buys your tries and maybe your lats that's what you need
32:39
to work on you know what I'm saying leis I know what you're saying but uh I know pris L does so I'm just saying
32:46
every time I hold an iPad I'm like what is this thing I have to hold it in my hands the best iPad is when that's just
32:53
on your face and just floating imaginarily in front of you you know and I lay down in bed I don't have to worry
32:58
about holding it at all I can just have a gigantic TV sized screen on my ceiling this guy's going to go for the Vision Pro Max when it comes out it's going to
33:05
be like you know a full-on motorcycle helmet you know so just just to recap
33:11
here's where I'm at so I'm getting the 14inch space black MacBook Pro M4 Max
33:18
unbin 64 gigs of RAM 2 terabytes of storage I'm going to spring for the Nano
33:24
texture display do you see what I do for you people this is not even for me this is not even something I'm doing for
33:29
myself I'm doing this for you and then I'm also going to get the 13h iPad Pro and we'll see I'm going to use them both
33:35
for two weeks I don't anticipate that I will want to return the MacBook Pro
33:40
although I am concerned about throttling but even if it throttles a little bit like let's say it's like 5 or 10% as much as it pains me
33:48
deeply powerfully poignantly to put a chip into a computer that can't run at
33:56
full capacity because the cooling system is inadequate to run run said chip I
34:01
still think that the tradeoff in size and portability might still be worth it for me so that's going to be the one
34:09
that I go for I'm not even going to tell you how much all this stuff costs I mean that's G to be a chunky cash back on
34:14
your Apple card I'll tell you that much well I'm not even going to use my Apple card because I get an extended warranty for free through my credit card company
34:22
so I'm going to go that route and I figure I'll I'll wait and see how the mapup pros play out like when the oleds
34:28
come out I will probably upgrade again although I think I mentioned last show like all the genii that I know they're
34:34
all waiting for that machine so there won't be any huge discounts to be had at least for me for that machine until it
34:40
becomes refurbished so like when that machine comes out I'm going to be waiting like at least four months before
34:46
a referb one pops up that I could probably get a discount on so this is going to be the M this is going to be
34:51
the comeback kid The Comeback machine the one that takes me from 23,000
34:57
YouTube subscribers up to probably I I wouldn't be surprised if I got past 26 or 27 in a
35:04
year or maybe maybe even 30 leis you don't know what's GNA happen but I am G
35:09
to be making more videos oh boy level remix did the math yep it full retail is $4,440 I mean it's
35:17
it's an astounding an astounding amount of money now of course that's not what I'm going
35:22
to be paying for it thankfully thanks to um um
35:28
some dear friends who have offered a discount um I don't get apple care I don't think it's worth it on the MacBook
35:34
Pro and for if you use the right credit card you just get it for free it's like
35:40
now it's not the same but you do get an extra year of warranty um and so I'm and I'm only
35:47
going to have this machine for probably two and a half years anyway well who knows we'll wait and see what happens that's the plan anyway so this is a big
35:54
departure from my comfort zone these are not the devices I typically buy like I
35:59
have always been an 11-in iPad person I have been a 16-in MacBook Pro in fact
36:04
when the power books were out they had a 17-inch model I used to have that I used to have a 17inch PowerBook that thing
36:11
was glorious it was beautiful it was fast and you know had a huge display I'm
36:17
not looking forward to going to the smaller display but one of the things I think I realized is I was going back and forth between these MacBook Pros is like
36:25
the 14in is totally doable like when I loaded up Final Cut Pro when I loaded up logic this the screen is definitely
36:32
noticeably smaller than the 16-in when you have them side by side but it's
36:37
still totally workable I mean you could I I don't foresee missing like like
36:43
feeling like I can't do my work on a 14-inch display and picking that thing up is such a treat it's so lightweight
36:50
it is a pound and a half lighter than the 16inch mapup pro I mean that is just
36:56
huge Now is it going to be throttling all the time because it doesn't have the correct
37:02
cooling mechanism or uh cooling system in place probably but just turn on high
37:07
power mode that those fans are cranked all the time and let her it man so there you go that's where I'm at it took me
37:15
two weeks to arrive at this decision two sessions two in two distinct trips to the Apple Store a stop at Shake Shack
37:22
and then another trip to the Apple Store to make this you had a a meal in between your your trips yeah I had to so much
37:29
staring at that you're you were hungry yesterday man you ran out of energy and Shake Shack has this crispy chicken
37:35
avocado sandwich that I was like oh that looks good so I swung in real fast scarfed that thing down burn the top of
37:41
my mouth they'll be hearing from my high power legal team the thing about Shake Shack man is I don't know how they do
37:47
this this might be a tangent I don't know how they do this their burgers come out when their burgers are ready for you
37:53
they are piping hot like nowhere else have I been where the burger is hot by the time it gets to you it's like warm I
38:00
burn my mouth on this thing they must take it out of the fryer and they've got like a a former pro football player
38:06
quarterback back there who like Spiral throws that thing right into the bun and then it comes right to your table and
38:12
that thing that's why they take so long to make the orders they're actually cooked to order as the orders come in but there are restaurants that do the
38:18
same thing and I feel like well touche touche made to order
38:25
asterisk you know order uh it's like a like a like a pre- crime from Minority
38:30
Report uh we anticipate orders ahead of time and orders will be made at least you know through 45 minutes in
38:35
preparation of your order it's it's microwaved to order not actually cooked to order I could tell you places that microwave I don't want to get sued
38:41
though places that I've worked though that you would think were really nice sit down Italian Italian restaurants not
38:47
so nice um who could that be yeah I won't
38:52
say their name because I hear they're litigious Well it can't be Olive Garden because you said they're nice oh what a
38:59
wonderful place to work I would never say anything negative about Olive Gard cuz just a really terrific place to work
39:05
authentic Italian food Griffin like your mother used to make authentic asterisk
39:10
yeah aren't they aren't they authentic Ohio based Italian food I don't know where they're actually located but it's
39:18
probably in the midwest somewhere you know all right and that's all the
39:23
cultcast we got time for should I go ahead and start the music so I'll let you all know how it
39:28
plays out now I have to place the order I don't know when it's actually going to get to me and then see how I like it I
39:34
mean there's one thing about having it in the Apple Store and there's another thing having it you know in your bed
39:40
with you and on your couch with you using it to make content but one thing
39:45
is for sure no matter what MacBook Pro I get no matter what iPad I get the
39:51
YouTube channel is being revived I think this weekend is going to be when the first video drops we'll see if anyone
39:58
watches it people are like who is this guy they're like are you are you for real like are you actually back again
40:04
cuz I think I think I mentioned I think I didn't realize this was two years ago when the I when the when the new homep
40:10
pods came out it was two years ago in February I returned to the Channel with a video and I was like I'm back baby and
40:16
then I made that video and I Disappeared for two years after that again so I don't know if anyone is
40:22
interested in anything I had to say anymore but I'm gonna try we were talking about uh old timey sayings right
40:28
what about uh don't write it don't let your mouth write a check that your ass can't catch
40:34
cash my ass can't catch many things loose I maybe years his special
40:45
powers oh man all right so we move on oh my God finally yes don't act have six
40:52
stories to do in half an hour it's okay yeah okay well that's definitely not happen two minutes a piece let's send it to l let's talk about some other devices
40:59
people might be interested in leis yeah the headline on this is iPhone
41:04
S4 and iPad 11 to launch quote by April some people were thinking that
41:11
uh iOS 18.3 might be the time that Apple would uh come to release the iPhone
41:19
se4 but uh and I guess Snippets of code found in that operating systems beta
41:24
build added some Credence to this rumor but somebody came along and threw cold
41:30
water on it guess who it was oh boy I bet it's somebody with a buzz cut who never
41:35
smiles yeah he total buzz kill he has overdeveloped frown muscles I think that might be the problem Bloomberg's buzz
41:41
killer and chief Mark German dismissed this rumor as quote completely untrue oh
41:47
man he said this on X yeah yes the new iPads and iPhone SE replacement are
41:54
being developed on the iOS 18.3 TR train is that a term that Apple uses uh
42:01
but that doesn't mean they launch together this month it means they'll launch before iOS 18.4 by April if all
42:08
goes to plan so there you go the buzz killer
42:15
himself so don't get too excited it's going to be a a long dark and if you're in Ohio cold January I don't think
42:23
anyone was excited for this leis I'll be honest with you the SE although I did get my my wife the SE for
42:31
Christmas the Apple watch SE I should say that thing's great and it was
42:37
$150 $150 and uh she doesn't really even want
42:44
the always on display that's like the only feature that I feel like it's really missing which they totally could
42:49
do it has the sa chip in it like they could they could totally have done always on display it's got an OLED
42:55
screen I mean is a really nice watch but they totally nerfed it because at $150
43:02
that like they had to turn off the always on display via software because otherwise it's just the watch everyone would get because they know that's that
43:09
that's the feature that I think most people probably want so the SE devices can be really nice another possibility
43:15
is the M4 MacBook Air that's another rumored product that may be coming out around the same time is that enough to
43:21
host an actual Apple event or will these just be press releases we'll see I'm thinking press
43:26
releases yeah if it's only going to be those I mean they're not having an event for the
43:32
SE that much as for certain SE is a side note it's an
43:37
asterisk it's the device that moms and dads and grandpas and grandmas buy not
43:42
the hardcore Apple Fans they're not making it's not worth writing the press release about in my opinion but um iPad
43:50
11 yeah press release minor spec bump supposedly yeah yeah you know what might
43:56
be worth a press release I'm too good I'm too good at this I need to retire I've reached my Peak the first
44:03
Thunderbolt 5 display with 6K resolution which might be ideal for both M4 Pro and
44:09
M4 Max users I open up to the wrong
44:14
story my stories are all out of order I blame Lewis so check this out you might
44:21
think that this is an Apple product but you would be wrong and we would all
44:26
laugh at you for thinking that this is actually a new monitor unveiled by LG
44:36
the new ultra fine 6K display this is one of the new CES 2025 products that we thought was worth
44:44
talking about dude we need to go to CES one of the these years I miss CES
44:49
Griffin's never been Lewis it's been ages since you've been right yeah yeah I I mean well
44:58
God I don't know man I miss sandwiches probably 10 years it's really yeah kind of disappointing yeah man I would love
45:04
to go although I was deeply disappointed when they moved it out of the Venetian into like the MGM
45:11
rundown you know hotel casino that no one wants to go to anymore it's like Grandma's smoking marau 100s on the slot
45:19
machines type of a place you know it's like the bions of Las Vegas bions bions is
45:26
awesome oh oh man anyway uh so let's see here
45:31
not only does this new monitor share the pro xdr amazing 6K resolution it has
45:38
bleeding Ed connectivity bleeding edge connectivity of Thunderbolt 5 and would
45:44
pair make it pair nicely with the M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook
45:49
Pros um it has a super minimal look to it clean bezels logo free front panel it
45:57
actually looks beautiful um rectangular form factor complemented by a height
46:02
adjustable stand in fact this picture that we showing here I thought this was a render because the bezels are so thin
46:10
and they clearly copied the adjustable mechanism that Apple uses on the pro xdr
46:16
display like how are they not being sued over this it's the same it looks like the same mechanism that allows you to
46:22
move the display up and down the ultra fine 6K employees a nano
46:27
IPS back panel 98% of the DCI P3 color
46:33
space um and these specifications don't match the pro xdr capabilities but they make it a really
46:40
nice Monitor and a great option to that you know $55,000 monitor um and then of course it has
46:47
Thunderbolt 5 and that increase in bandwidth um could allow it to
46:53
potentially support 120 hertz at 6K um although I don't know that we know
46:59
either way if it will do that do we I don't think they exctly it will support but Thunderbolt 5 allows that I think
47:06
we're getting a new studio display this year I really do I think that Thunderbolt 5 teed up Apple to create a
47:13
much better Studio display I'm going to be super sad when that happens in fact maybe I should sell mine in preparation
47:18
this was another reason why I decided to go with the Nano texture cuz I'm like I have the studio display and it's glossy
47:24
so I'm like if I really need the glossiness which I kind of in a way do want the
47:29
glossy because I know that's what most people are going to watch videos on they're going to have like a phone or an iPad with a glossy display but I can do
47:37
that on the studio display um in any case I think that apple is going to update the studio display this year and
47:44
they'll probably have like this beautiful Nano texture as an option with Thunderbolt 5 it will probably have
47:49
promotion it will probably remain at 5K would be my my guess or or maybe they even make it 32 in or something and make
47:56
it 6K I mean who knows what they'll do but thunderpole 5 and that increased bandwidth that drastic increase in
48:02
bandwidth allows for all sorts of stuff that I think they probably couldn't make work on the current Studio display
48:08
because of like the bandwidth limitations so there you go do we have a price on this no we do not it's not
48:14
announced if you got to ask it's not for you but I'll bet right now it's going to be less than the $6,000 Pro display xdr
48:21
with a stand well that is true I guess if you weigh in the stand
48:26
6600 bucks with tax in my area 6600 bucks all right well uh talking about
48:36
other things that you may want to buy well actually with that segue I got to
48:41
give a quick promotion to C cloth other things that you may want to buy if you haven't yet bought yourself
48:47
cook cloth now is a great time to do it our promotion for getting a free extra carry cloth with orders $20 plus it's
48:54
back it's back in power and if you get an order in you'll get our new uh
48:59
version our new generation of uh carry cloth along with our other absolutely mind-blowingly good cleaning cloth or C
49:07
cloth Duo and if get in a three pack you can also get one of our polish cloths or
49:13
several Pol polish cloths depending on which package you buy and I don't know what it is about my Apple watch I think
49:19
I mentioned this in a previous show I feel like my oleophobic coating is wearing off and it gets fingerprints on
49:24
it really easily now so I find that I'm swabbing the deck all the time now and I
49:29
I use these coat cloth on everything I use them on my watch I use them on my TV
49:35
I use them on my monitors keyboards I use them on my Mouse I mean you name it
49:41
there's just nothing that cleans I would say more quickly and more effectively than cult cloth and I I may work up the
49:48
bravery bravery to try these on my Nano texture display because our polish cloth
49:54
and the carry cloth have the same um look and feel as Apple's polish cloth
50:00
do does except they're much larger which means you won't accidentally smudge your screen while you're trying to clean it
50:05
the apple one is Tiny I think it's like 4x4 in I'm like dude I'm buying a $4,500
50:11
laptop could you not throw in like a larger size cleaning cloth but no um so
50:18
I might work up The Bravery to try one of our cloths on it but it makes me nervous makes me nervous you know
50:24
there's your first video of the new year uh dude that video if the if the nanotexture display was more popular it
50:30
might be worth doing I mean it would definitely get views it's like what does it take to destroy a a nanotexture
50:36
display on my new Macbook Pro people would watch that but would it be enough to to Warrant that the actual test I
50:43
doubt it but in any case uh we're freshly restocked and if you have not
50:49
gotten yourself some cult cloth or you just want some more for your car for anything that you want to keep sparkling clean c cloth. c cloth. Co use code
50:58
cultcast to check out and you'll get an extra carry cloth on any order $20 plus
51:04
and you'll have the best cleaning cloth In The Biz as they say who says that
51:09
I've heard people say it before best cleaning cloth In The Biz if not it should be it should be something that we do say and if you don't think that
51:15
that's something that we should say well you know what you could stick a cork in it LS that's how I feel because I don't
51:21
give a rat's ass wow two asses in one show did we
51:27
talk was that pre-show Baner did we talk about that when we started I can't remember because if not people are time
51:32
saving yeah yeah because otherwise people going be like dude what's this why is he getting so aggro over this cuz
51:38
we were talking about all all the cool old sayings from the 90s that no one says anymore and we're going to try and bring them back the
51:44
1890s yeah no I don't know if it was went back that far I know you you may have some from the 1890s that you used to use in your youth but I wasn't around
51:53
in those days anyway you can put that in your pipe and smoke it leis there's another one just you have an endless
52:01
endless supply well it just seems to me like you can't quite smell what The Rock is cooking so I'm trying to help you out
52:07
now see that's not that old timey n that one's not old enough I'll see myself out all right
52:13
let's talk about uh dude you know oh my gosh I know think I looked at this story
52:19
before we yeah you're in for a treat I thought this was something that
52:24
goes on your wall but no sir this is a little this is a little bit different than that everybody
52:31

52:36
one this is uh Nano Leaf which makes you know ton of cool smart home things uh
52:42
made kind of an interesting move uh interesting move this time they released this uh LED light therapy face mask that
52:51
frankly looks like something out of a horror movie that's one of the that that that trly qualifies as one of the most bizar things that we've seen at
52:57
CS so uh it's 150 bucks 10% off in a pre-order deal if if you know you're not
53:04
terrified that you'll scare all your uh roommates or your partners whatever the world
53:11
anyway skincare device goes right on your face and harnesses the power of near infrared light and IR technology to
53:18
address various skin concerns oh my gosh these pictures the one the one that
53:23
looks like you know the total man of the Iron Mask or something it looks like it looks like a Jason movie 2025 yeah I
53:31
mean look look at that that is horrifying anyway yeah so it looks like
53:37
what it looks like it's made out of gray plastic it's got a a nose slot of some
53:43
sort and eye holes and a a red oddly shaped like lip hole area and you can
53:51
see the red uh light inside there which makes it just look like five times more
53:57
evil oh my God it's just anyway let's see uh it's cleared by the FDA for use
54:03
uh features multiple LED light colors including red blue white cyan green and yellow each serving specific therapeutic
54:11
purposes seven specialized treatment modes and an ergonomic design that
54:16
conforms to facial Contours dude did Eddie from the chat is saying relite therapy is awesome is this like a real
54:23
thing I don't actually know I mean I'm sure it does something if it's FDA approved it must do something but like what is this supposed to
54:30
do yeah we were making fun of this in the in the culag slack Ed said that
54:35
looks like a very cheap Eastern European version of Iron Man and I said that looks like someone
54:42
described The Vision Pro to Salvador Dolly over the phone those are all good is wild looking
54:50
um so supposedly can do things like take care of you know fine lines that you got on your face uh help with acne uneven
54:56
skin tone which of course you know I don't have any idea what they're talking about something like that uh see and
55:04
research has indicated that red light therapy in particular May contribute to skin firming benefits okay who knows I
55:11
mean dude I got I got get one of these for review you oh yeah you gonna ask I might I might if they'll send me one I
55:17
will I will hands down review this and will you wear it during an entire episode yeah absolutely that it's funny
55:23
that you should say that because I was like Griffin and and I wore the Vision Pro for an entire episode that was one
55:30
of the most technically challenging episodes we have ever done you cannot see anything through the Vision Pro like
55:36
I couldn't see my keyboard I couldn't see the text on in OBS to like press the
55:41
buttons in the stuff if I could pull that off if you do it on a PC you couldn't do the virtual display like I could yeah that would have been nice
55:48
because I I am doing on the cult Commander which is the Pinnacles of or the Pinnacle of um streaming technology
55:55
I've been thinking through a potential workflow to see how I could join the cultcast as a like my virtual persona
56:01
for an entire episode that'd be pretty cool if you can make that work somehow yeah I mean I can't see how it will have
56:09
enough course to get that hair volume calculation correct but my virtual
56:15
Persona even after the vision OS 2 update still makes me look like a like a sickly Irish boy
56:22
but you never know oh man all right how much is this thing1 135 okay all right
56:29
so 150 bucks I mean look I I just find this to be endlessly amusing like they
56:35
thought this this would be something that people would want and have decided to go through all the work to actually
56:42
make this into a real viable product and that it looks like this at the very end yeah how many uh how many LEDs does that
56:49
thing have on it can you tell I don't know looks like a looks like a 100 maybe 200 or something yeah I don't know yeah
56:56
pretty wild looking you would think that I I you know a more charitable thing
57:01
would it almost looks like uh you know uh a Mexican wrestling mask it it does
57:07
that's exactly what it looks like it's like it's like a high-tech Mexican uh
57:13
someone in the chat said it Luchador it looks like a high-tech Mex Mexican wrestling mask they should uh they
57:19
should give it some like uh sequins and stuff on the outside you know really play it up you could be Mexican Iron Man
57:25
in this thing have LEDs on the outside too so I can do there you go why are
57:30
they only on the inside I mean you can just wear Inside Out There You Go had consider that all
57:38
right before you before you move off I know you're were talking about uh weird stuff at at CES I don't think this is in
57:43
the show notes I I had a little pre-brief with anchor where they showed off some of the stuff they got and oh
57:49
yeah they have this it's solar beach umbrella okay
57:55
which what a great idea I'm going to guess this has been announced solar beach
58:03
umbrella and they're not the only people that make them it was the first time I'd ever heard of such a thing you you know you can charge up your uh all your gear
58:09
at the beach or you know wherever your backyard whatever yeah and uh they have
58:15
a this is another product category that I'm like moderately interested in which is these these uh electric powered
58:23
coolers and this one actually is like a freezer too you could take you could take ice and Frozen stuff and it I mean
58:29
that's kind of wild you take all that stuff to the beach or you know on a camping trip or whatever you know is that what the solix thing is it's like a
58:37
yeah it's like a solar powered cooler dang dude yeah yeah and you're
58:43
right it is it's an it's by anchor solic their uh it's like their solar solar
58:48
energy and they make um they make battery packs too I think yeah all kinds
58:54
of cool stuff but it I just I really like that uh umbrella I know if I was at at CES that would have caught my eye I
59:02
and stuff like that kind of made me sad you know like I like seeing that stuff in person it's cool getting the breing
59:07
but you know it's it's cool to just check it out yeah okay next year next
59:12
year CS was always fun man it was always a good time I mean you just go you hang out and you you make content and you the
59:21
problem was like it'd be way easier to do videos than writing like the writing was always like the drag right it's like
59:26
you got to go there and it sounds fun and then you're like oh I saw all these products and now I have to write like 10 pieces yeah you go back to your room and
59:34
you start working at 10 p.m. yeah half knocker yeah exactly
59:40
half by by by 11:00 a.m. Lander's done for the whole day you
59:45
know and that's the other thing too it's like you go to these press events and they're all just trying to feed you alcohol the whole time and then you
59:52
realize that Gallagher is there breaking watermelons and things have gotten way out of control Troll and you're like what is going on Steve Miller Band
59:59
playing a special concert yeah Stevie Wonder is playing at the monster party
1:00:05
and uh right the monster party I wonder if you still have those yeah man those were those were the ticket right there
1:00:11
those were the days if you're willing to show those $100 HDMI goldplated cables you get to see Stevie Wonder at the
1:00:17
monster party all right what else we got oh man we are running out of time yeah we're running out of time
1:00:23
man Griffin I think it's you now isn't it yep so this is back to this is just a
1:00:29
confusing sort of announcement uh dell has borrowed Apple's pro and pro Max
1:00:35
product names Dell rebranded all of its PCS with names that should sound very
1:00:40
familiar to Apple users going forward the company's computers will either be part of the Dell Dell Pro or Dell Pro
1:00:48
Max product lines those aren't like sub Brands those are the names of the actual like laptop computers that they're
1:00:54
selling you can buy Dell the Dell Pro or the Dell Pro Max they've completely
1:00:59
thrown away all of the recognizable brand names like the Dell XPS Dell
1:01:04
Optiplex Dell Inspiron like there aren't a lot of good PC Brands like what I mean
1:01:10
what else is there like the the ThinkPad there's the Sony VIO you know those three like d XPS people know what that
1:01:16
means no they're all gone Dell Pro I actually don't know what those those
1:01:22
three brand names were so in a in that way and and I've owned D computers in
1:01:27
the past i' I've probably owned at least two out of those three brands I don't know which one's Pro and which one's not
1:01:33
anyway uh so in in that way stealing apples uh C ain't the worst idea but uh
1:01:40
well it gets even worse because the worst part is that Dell Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max are only the model names they're also there's a second dimension
1:01:46
because they're also trim levels bass bass wait sorry base plus and premium oh
1:01:52
no that means that the actual names of the computers you'd buy would be the
1:01:57
Dell Pro Plus Dell Pro Max Base Dell Pro Max premium Dell premium it's just these
1:02:05
are just meaningless strings of words oh so like different levels of each computer tier yeah wow yeah see that
1:02:13
makes it more confusing I mean they they it's kind of Genius actually because Apple's naming convention does help you
1:02:21
understand like where in the line you're buying and you know like like there's the M4 and then there's the M4 Pro and
1:02:28
the M4 Max it's like okay I know where in the ecosystem I am so like they stole it which got them heavily clowned upon
1:02:34
and then they ruined the benefit by adding in all this extra stuff that just further confuses it and makes you not
1:02:41
really know where you sit in the lineup cuz all their model names were confusing and you never really knew like which
1:02:46
machine was the best one and which was like the base one and you still don't because the there's meaningless strings
1:02:52
of words like it's it's the classic PC mover like yeah we'll copy what apple is doing but will just copy like the
1:02:57
surface level veneer of their design and not actually copy like the strategy so
1:03:02
it's it's just swapping words for different words that are equally meaningless this is going to sound so
1:03:08
fanboyish but I I was thinking about this when I was in the store I was like dude I don't know what it is about Apple
1:03:15
but they just take everything to like the nth degree and it's so well thought
1:03:20
through and Polished again I take it back to like the nanotexture display right people have been doing displays
1:03:26
forever and for some I mean there are companies now that specialize in monitors with matte displays Apple used
1:03:34
to make matte displays the Apple used to make them that's true and and now they come along and and it's like this
1:03:39
technology is one that had to have exist I doubt that they pioneered it like I'm going to guess that they bought some
1:03:45
company that made this technology and they they release it and it's like dude this is just the best that exists like
1:03:52
how come no one else was able to do this like what is it about Apple even when you go into that Apple Store and you feel like you're at the Smithsonian and
1:03:59
you're just ready to just watch your dollars fly out of your pocket and you don't even care um and Apple's able to
1:04:07
do that and other places aren't like there's just some kind of special magic that they have baked
1:04:12
in because lots of people have lots of talented people working at their companies right it's not like Google
1:04:17
doesn't have smart people or Microsoft or whoever but Apple's able to motivate
1:04:24
or organize or or use those people in a way or Empower those people in such a way that they're able to create
1:04:30
something extraordinary and you see that when you interact with their products
1:04:36
and it's just something that other people haven't been able to copy I mean that's the one thing that I think that
1:04:43
was probably Steve Jobs most important contribution to Apple is whatever he
1:04:49
helped design or Implement at Apple that the culture maybe it's the culture
1:04:55
that's the piece that people can't copy it's the it's the part that allows them to do all these other things that are so
1:05:02
far ahead of so many other other competitors anyway I don't go too much on about this I mean it's like such a
1:05:07
fanboy um perspective um Griffin do you want to promote
1:05:14
your walking lock screen wallpaper technology story walking sure toggling lock screen
1:05:23
wallpaper before a pro tip for all those you can check out in the link in the video description
1:05:29
in just a few minutes you can create a cool iPhone lock screen wallpaper they can switch between two different images
1:05:35
with just a tap oh dude that is pretty cool so for instance you might set up like two identical photos of a car with
1:05:42
and without its headlights on and that way when you tap your phone screen you can toggle the lights on and off I have
1:05:47
a few different examples I included links to wallpapers that will do this effect in the in the article itself um
1:05:54
or you can I think Leander added this to my article as an example uh you can take duplicate photos of your boss and add
1:06:01
fiery red laser eyes to one of them and he can tap between the two nice boss and boss from hell I
1:06:08
[Laughter] don't all you need to do is create a
1:06:14
photo Shuffle wall paper select the photos manually and pick the two images that you want okay you have to set them to shuffle on tap and then he can toggle
1:06:21
between them dude this is a cool tip oh yeah yeah it was hard hard to uh it's
1:06:27
hard to describe it you know like and just see that putting the gift at the top of that that post was like that was
1:06:34
the magic soft right there yeah that shows exactly exactly what it does and uh if you're watching the YouTube Liv
1:06:40
stream I have a few more examples here if you know the Tardis from drct who you can tap to make it disappear to bring it
1:06:46
back let's see what else um oh here's one I did with the cultcast artwork so
1:06:53
one that's like the the typical like 1984 style Macintosh
1:06:58
artwork tap to bring in color oh my gosh this guy's out of control I like the
1:07:04
color one man maybe we should switch that color one the black and white one is already our branding I like that color one too
1:07:12
fun little secret that's cool well go as far as you want with it it's a pretty cool uh pretty cool tip and you it
1:07:18
doesn't just have to be two photos either I I discovered that as while I was reading this you know it could be
1:07:23
you can put as many as you want I suppose really like the hard part is finding wallpapers that'll do it I
1:07:29
searched endlessly and I couldn't really find any good ones but but the thing is it has to be the right screen ratio and
1:07:36
that's like the iPhone screen ratio is a very specific thing and you have to find wallpapers that are in a set of like two
1:07:42
or three that you can toggle between but you don't need to use this for making it
1:07:47
seem as though the image is changing from one version to the other like you could just have rotating pictures of your kids in there right like that would
1:07:54
be a less fun like flashy way to utilize the feature but like you could I didn't
1:08:00
even know this feature existed so like you could just switch your wallpaper so that you have like pictures of like
1:08:06
whatever rotating way the photo Shuffle wallpaper is designed is that like apple will intelligently choose the best
1:08:12
pictures from your photo library and auto siiz them and like rotate on every hour or every day or something like that
1:08:18
okay yeah see I never even played around automatically for you if you want to do that mine is just always set to the weather um because I just love knowing
1:08:26
what the weather Isa and like when you when I touch my phone and it and it wakes up it's like oh it's sunny oh it's
1:08:32
actually raining outside like we got our new roof installed like two years ago and they added like this level of
1:08:38
insulation in there so I can never hear the rain anymore like my old roof was just basically like like tar paper
1:08:44
adhered to like plywood so anytime it rained I could hear it but like now it's like oh wait is it is it raining like I
1:08:50
almost have to um ask Sira like in that really annoying commercial with like Zoe
1:08:55
was her name d Chanel or something we're just like she's looking out the window she's like hey you know who is it
1:09:01
raining outside it's so's like yes it's raining and she's like literally looking out the window but now but now I can't
1:09:07
tell so like now that has to be me or I just look at my screen all right look I've had it I've had it with you
1:09:14
too plus I actually do need to go so we're going to go ahead and need to wrap it up there that's all theast we have for you guys this week but you know what
1:09:22
the party continues you could head on over to the exclusive C clob if C clob
1:09:27
well you get C clobbered if you don't Fork it over before you head over there but if you do Fork it over then you can
1:09:33
