Apple and Skydance Animation teamed up to create Blush, a short film about a stranded astronaut. It’s written and directed by Joe Mateo, whose credits include Big Hero 6 and Prep & Landing.

The upcoming film is the first in a multiyear partnership to create animated movies and shows for Apple TV+.

Here’s Apple’s description of the sci-fi short:

Blush follows the journey of a stranded horticulturist-astronaut’s chances for survival after he crash lands on a desolate dwarf planet. When an ethereal visitor arrives, the once-lone traveler discovers the joy in building a new life and realizes the universe has delivered astonishing salvation.

Wednesday’s press release did not reveal when Blush will premiere on Apple TV+. The company simply labels the film as “coming soon.”

Plenty more coming from Skydance Animation and Apple TV+

In February 2021, Apple and Skydance Animation announced two new movies and a series to be released on the streaming video service. That includes Luck about a very unlucky girl, and Spellbound, a musical about a girl who sets out to break the spell that has divided her kingdom in two. Plus there’s The Search for WondLa, a series about a girl searching for a family.

Skydance Animation is the cartoon division of a production company responsible for the Star Trek, Mission Impossible and Terminator franchises.

Apple TV+ continues to add content for kids, like The Snoopy Show, the award-winning Wolfwalkers and much more. The streaming service, which offers a free seven-day trial, costs $4.99 a month. It also forms a key component of all Apple One subscription bundles.
