Some HomePod mini owners are encountering Wi-Fi connectivity problems that there appears to be no fix for.

Early adopters of Apple’s newest smart speaker report that Siri often says there is no internet connection, despite no issues on other devices. The only workaround is a temporary one.

HomePod mini is Apple’s answer to the Amazon Echo Dot. It’s much more expensive at $99, but it promises high-quality sound, and the best privacy and security. It’s “nothing short of amazing,” Apple says.

For some HomePod mini owners, however, the device has been nothing short of frustrating.

HomePod mini suffers Wi-Fi problems

“I am having issues with HomePod mini not connecting to the internet,” writes one users on the Apple Support Communities forum. “My other HomePods have no issue when I ask a question.”

“I followed the trouble shooting steps Apple provides but it goes back to ‘I am having trouble connecting to the internet’ after a couple of hours. Then it is normal again.”

At this point, it remains unclear what causes the HomePod mini’s Wi-Fi problem. Apple recommends rebooting HomePod mini or even restoring its factory settings. But users say this only fixes the issue for a short period of time.

It seems only a small number of units are affected by this — other HomePod mini owners are seeing no connectivity issues at all — but the number of complaints is growing online.

Update incoming?

Apple has not yet acknowledged that this is more than just a random problem. However, we hope to see a fix in a future HomePod mini update. In the meantime, it seems frequent restarts are necessary.
