The 2018 iPad Pro is a huge improvement over its predecessors. It also costs a heap of money. But there is a sneaky way to save a bit.

Or consider the the 9.7-inch iPad unveiled last spring. It already has a low price, which doesn’t mean its not about to go on sale for even less.

If you’re interested in snagging any 2018 Apple tablet, read on to see when we expect the biggest iPad discounts to show up.

2018 iPad Pro savings

Let’s be realistic: the new iPad Pro isn’t even in customer hands yet, and Apple isn’t able to keep up with pre-release demand. So no retailer is offering any bargains on it yet.

But there is a way to save money. Don’t buy your device from Apple; go instead to  an online retailer that won’t have to charge you sales tax. The 12.9- and 11-inch versions can be ordered from many stores, not just Apple.com. Pick one that doesn’t have any locations in your state and save.

Exactly how much you’ll save depends on which iPad Pro configuration you choose and sales tax in your area. Just for an example, not paying 5 percent sales tax on a $999 tablet is $50. That’s not chump change.

And there could be more bargains as the holiday season gets into full swing. If so, we’ll update this article.

9.7-inch iPad (6th Gen) deals

Black Friday is just a couple weeks away, and we already know what discounts many stores will be offering off the regular price of the iPad released back in March.

Target is going to knock $80 off the cost of this tablet, bringing it down to $249.99. Costco will offer this model at the same price.

If you’re looking for something smaller, Target is going to have the iPad mini 4 at $249.99. Technically that’s a $150 savings.
