What We Can’t Wait To Touch At This Year’s CES [CES 2011]

LAS VEGAS — After hours of driving through the cow-infested flatness of California’s Central Valley, CultofMac Editor Leander Kahney and I have finally arrived in Vegas, primed to report from this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. The doors only officially open on Thursday, but here’s some of the sparkly new stuff we saw released today that we’re mega-pumped to get our hands on at this year’s show:

  • We’re impressed with the neat simplicity behind French-based Oxygen Audio’s O’Dock, an iPhone dock that practically replaces the control deck of your car’s stereo, with the help of a dedicated app that works with the dock. this should be one of a slew of new app-enhanced gadgets exploding onto the market this year.
  • Check out the funky Kurve dock, another unusual dock design from Speakal, no stranger to flash-looking docks. If the 20W of power behind the dock doesn’t rock your date’s world, the swath of neon might do the trick. This year’s CES looks bound to be a dock smorgasbord.
  • Withings, famous for bringing out the first wifi-connected body scale, will announce the first blood-pressure monitor that connects and interacts with the iPhone.

So stick around — we’ll be posting tons of video of all this stuff to ogle at. And, yes, behind-the-scenes shenanigans will invariably end up on my Twitter stream.
