The official iOS YouTube app just got a monumental update in the App Store. Today’s update finally brings support for the iPhone 5’s taller display, AirPlay integration, and a completely new iPad version. Boo-ya!
Just in time for the holidays, now you can download or update the YouTube app with a look designed for the iPad and iPhone 5, enhanced AirPlay support, videos that start faster and play more smoothly, and improved accessibility with VoiceOver. Enjoy Tastemade on iPad in full screen glory, or hours of flipping through Ryan Higavideos on your iPhone 5 or iPod touch.
Other notable additions include the ability to add and remove videos from your playlists, tappable links in video descriptions, and improved accessibility with iOS’s VoiceOver feature. AirPlay support means you’ll be able to quickly beam streaming video from an iOS device to an Apple TV.
According to Google, 25% of all viewing happens on mobile devices. The standalone YouTube app was originally released in the App Store back in September after Apple removed its default YouTube app in iOS 6.
