Inside Steve Wozniak’s Amazing $25,000 Gadget Bag

Holy cow! Steve Wozniak carries around $25,000 worth of gear in his gadget bag.

Every once and a while here at Cult of Mac, we like to peel open our gadget bags and catalogue what’s inside them for a bit of fun in our “What’s in our gadget bag?” series. The scope of our gadget bags has nothing on Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak’s, though: his bag contains two iPads, a MacBook Pro, two iPod nanos, three iPhone 4Ses, an iPhone 4, a Mophie, a Jambox and even more.

Here’s what Woz said about his gadget bag to Gizmodo:

Some people ask how heavy my backpack is. There are a lot more things in my backpack including: the AirPort Express and MacBook Pro 85W magsafe adapter, which are out of sight in this photo, bluetooth mouse, binoculars, projector connectors, multiple Gameboy Lights (a Gameboy sold in Japan but never in the U.S.), Gameboy link cables, plenty of foreign AC adapters, prism glasses for watching movies in bed, sunglasses, earplugs for concerts, Ultimate Ears UE18 earplugs for flights, Gameboy link cable, tons of pencils for pencil games on flights, tons of pens, tons of sharpies, tons of paint pens (signing), red-blue-purple-yellow-green laser pointers, credit cards, hotel cards, airline cards, hard rock card, medical cards, small accessories like olloclip iPhone lens adapter, Square, flash keys, flash media adapters, cigarette lighter dual USB adapter, audio doubler cable, iPad USB/SD Card adapters, toiletries for hotels, batteries of many types (AA, AAA, CR2, CR128, odder types for things like my bag beeper for locating my suitcase), eyedrops, $2 bill pads, pencil puzzles, itineraries for upcoming travel…

I usually say that my backpack weighs 50 pounds. I’m not sure but I have to carry it every step through airports. I’m sure that I’m shorter now than before and I don’t walk as fast. Everything has its place in my backpack.

Sometimes TSA takes a long time unpacking it. A couple of times they asked me to take out everything electronic and I asked for seven bins, all of which I filled (only 2 half-size), plus my MacBook Pro, plus the bag. All of that through the X-ray machine. Then repack it.

Woz says more, including a list of every single thing in that bag, which is an extensive catalogue to be sure. Let’s hope Woz never gets mugged: that’s at least $25,000 backpack he’s lugging around there. Bonkers. And I thought my gadget bag was pretty stocked.

That’s cool but what’s the point? There is no way he uses all those gadgets on a daily basies

It’s nice to see the CO-FOUNDER of Apple with non-Apple products.

Cheers Woz! You truly are a tech God

That is some OCD right there. I echo the comment below, how can he possibly use all those devices efficiently? What purpose do they all serve? What on earth happens when he receives a new email? Must either A) sound like a wedding is happening nearby or B) vibrate the bag off the table.

I’m concerned about the fact that he uses Foursquare so assiduously.

This guy is stupid. Why would he carry all of this stuff with him. Seems like he’s trying to be cool or something. Why would you need 3 iPhone 4s and 1 iPhone 4? Plus all the other stuff and plus all of the weird stuff like toiletries for hotel and ear plugs for concerts. Wtf! Hes proably lying and just started listing all of these things. What a weird dude.He even looks weird. He says stupid things like android is better than iOS. Ya right.

what’s the point of having a device that does everything if you’re gonna carry them all?

  • sault

    Ridiculous.

I am glad I’ve never stood behind him at airport security – or maybe I have and that’s the reason for all those delays. C’mon Woz! Every time someone asks me why Apple would not make him CEO in lieu of Jobs, I’ll just point them to this post. Thanks John.

He must have a hernia from carrying around all that redundant equipment.

Just a little bonus info for people who don’t know him; good ol’ Woz is a bit of a prankster.
Sometimes he gets a good chuckle out of making journalists believe a tall tale ;-)

Woz has every right to do what makes him happy, but I cannot understand how it can be comfortable travelling around with so many gadgets that essentially all do the same things. More power to him – he has every right to be a walking electronics outlet, but he can be more productive by just sticking to a handful of gadgets.

just as Rodney responded I’m amazed that someone can get paid $5490 in 1 month on the computer. have you seen this web link(Click on menu Home more information) http://goo.gl/sVjQe
