The ability to keep a small video window open on my screen while I switch between apps is
0:09
something I've wanted for ages. That's exactly the purpose of the new Picture in Picture feature found on macOS Sierra
0:16
So long as it's been implemented by web developers, the feature works with video sites such as
0:20
YouTube and Vimeo. Here's how to use it. With embedded web videos on sites like Vimeo, you'll spot a new Picture in Picture icon
0:27
in the bottom right of the video player. Click this icon and the video will open in its own window
0:32
When you do this, it will snap to one of your corners of the screen, and you can then resize
0:36
it by dragging out the edges like you would with an iTunes movie or any other folder or app
0:41
One thing that you can't do in the Picture in Picture window is to skip to different parts of the video
0:45
To do this, you'll have to return to the tab in Safari, where the video will still be running
0:49
You'll need to make sure to keep this tab open for the duration of the time the video is playing
0:53
If you click the video window, you'll reveal the play pause button, as well as the option to switch back to viewing the video in Safari
1:00
When using Picture in Picture with YouTube, the process is slightly different. Choose your video and then right click twice on your mouse or trackpad to bring up the
1:07
enter Picture in Picture option. After that, you'll have the same controls as the steps mentioned previously
1:14
Well that's it for this video, but if you found it useful, go ahead and hit that like button, and don't forget to hit subscribe for more great tutorials like this
