hey everyone today I'm going to show you
0:10
how you can rip audio from almost any
0:13
video with QuickTime Player in Mac OS 10
0:17
now Quicktime player has a lot of Handy
0:19
functionality that not a lot of people
0:21
use just because they don't know about
0:22
it and if you actually look into
0:25
QuickTime Player there's a lot of neat
0:27
stuff that you can do and one of the
0:28
neat features is ripping the audio from
0:31
pretty much any video now the reason I
0:33
say pretty much is because there are a
0:35
couple different formats that if quick
0:38
time doesn't support you won't be able
0:39
to use obviously so but most file
0:43
formats are supported like MP4 that mov
0:46
most things that you would use there's a
0:48
couple file formats that aren't
0:49
supported that you won't be able to rip
0:51
the audio from but they're very minor
0:54
and chances are you won't be using them
0:55
anyways so when I open up this video
0:58
here I'm going to want to make sure that
0:59
I'm opening up with QuickTime Player 10
1:01
and not something like QuickTime Player
1:03
7 which is the old version and if you're
1:05
on an operating system like leopard that
1:08
doesn't support QuickTime Player 10 you
1:10
won't be able to do this unless you have
1:12
the pro version of QuickTime Player 7 so
1:14
we're going to open this up and this is
1:16
a previous video on Cult of Mac here of
1:20
course I should warn you you could
1:21
theoretically use this for piracy for
1:23
ripping your own audio tracks from
1:25
videos uh but you know that is illegal
1:28
so you really shouldn't be doing that uh
1:30
but you know just just use it as your
1:31
own risk so I'm going to go up here to
1:35
file and I am going to select export now
1:38
under export you're going to have a lot
1:40
of different options that you can use
1:42
for exporting files so if I look under
1:46
here you can see that by default it's
1:48
selected for mac and PC but you'll see
1:51
this audio only file option right here
1:54
and it says compatible with iPod iPhone
1:56
iPad Apple TV Mac and PC and that's as
1:59
simple as is and from here I can just
2:01
name it whatever I want and I'm just
2:03
going to name it
2:05
audio from video and I'm going to hit
2:08
export and now it's going to export to
2:11
my desktop in this case and it doesn't
2:12
take long at all and I can click quick
2:14
time player and you can see right here I
2:16
have audio from video and it exports as
2:19
a m4a file which if you look is an M4
2:23
audio file so it's not an MP3 or
2:26
anything like that but it's still audio
2:27
that you can work with and actively use
2:29
in iTunes or whatever you need and if I
2:33
preview this file you can see that
2:34
indeed the audio in it is exactly the
2:37
same as the audio in the
2:41
video and that's how it works and it's
2:43
really as easy as that and I've used
2:45
this before and it works great and I've
2:47
never had any problems with it and it's
2:49
just another easy thing that you can do
2:51
with QuickTime Player 10 right in Mac OS
2:53
10 so there you go there's how you can
2:54
rip the audio from nearly any video file
2:57
within QuickTime Player 10 of course if
2:59
you have anything that you'd like to see
3:00
me do a howu on make sure to send me an
3:02
email I hope you found this video useful
3:04
and thank you for watching
