hey guys jeff elijah gadget hunter here
0:08
on the prowl mac world 2013
0:11
found a cool product for you with
0:12
actually a cool story too so this little
0:14
guy is called the lumo
0:17
it looks like a fanny pack kinda straps
0:19
on the same way and i'm here with andrew
0:21
who's gonna tell us about it but uh let
0:23
me tell you a little bit about lumo so
0:24
it measures your posture you know your
0:25
mom or if you're from the uk your mom is
0:28
always telling you to stand up straight
0:29
right i know my mom did and actually
0:31
it's really easy to kind of slouch
0:33
especially if you're tall but the lumo
0:34
is supposed to help you solve that
0:36
problem um in some cool innovative ways
0:38
so i'm gonna tell i'm gonna have andrew
0:40
tell you a little bit about it
0:41
all right so sweet um
0:43
basically this is the lumo back right
0:45
here and it can measure your posture in
0:48
real time
0:49
if you start slouching this thing will
0:51
vibrate reminding you to stand or sit up
0:53
straighter we have a whole biomechanical
0:55
model of the human body in here that's
0:57
constantly looking at what you're doing
0:59
and how well you're doing it whether
1:00
you're sitting walking running standing
1:02
laying down
1:04
and
1:04
if you want i can show you a quick demo
1:07
of it i won
1:08
okay cool so basically i'm connected to
1:11
lumo right now and if i start slouching
1:14
like this lumo also starts um slouching
1:17
like that and whoops
1:20
back and if i do this for too long i
1:22
will get a vibration reminding myself to
1:25
stand nice and straight like this and
1:26
what we're trying to do is we're trying
1:27
to build muscle memory
1:29
so that people automatically stand and
1:31
sit better
1:32
and
1:33
and over time that will help with
1:35
reducing your back pain and and
1:37
and giving better presentations feeling
1:39
more energetic and just being more
1:40
productive so i understand so the the
1:42
actual belt vibrates when you're
1:44
slouching and that reminds me to stand
1:45
up straight but then there's also an
1:47
accompanying app
1:48
for ios obviously and it actually keeps
1:51
track of like your stats so you can see
1:53
like on which days you actually didn't
1:55
slouch a lot or stood up straight it
1:57
gives you like a little score so you can
1:58
kind of keep track of it and also in
1:59
real time it will show you
2:01
um if you're standing up straight or not
2:03
right that's right yeah this is our
2:05
avatar we call lumo and he basically
2:07
mimics everything that you do in real
2:09
time it's really fun and you guys got
2:11
your start on kickstarter right
2:13
and so that was a yes i didn't have the
2:14
mic in his face my bad i love it when i
2:16
find out about companies that started on
2:17
kickstarter because these are things
2:18
that may have kind of like gone to the
2:19
cracks maybe wouldn't have gotten
2:20
investors so you guys got funded when
2:23
uh so we got funded uh summer of last
2:26
year so in august or june of august and
2:30
and since then we've just been on a roll
2:32
we were really excited by all the
2:33
enthusiasm from all the people they've
2:35
gotten a lot of great feedback from all
2:37
of our kickstarter backers and we
2:39
started selling these things first to
2:41
all our backers at the end of november
2:43
and and so since then we've been still
2:46
getting a lot of great feedback around
2:48
how people use this um how their lives
2:50
are changing and how we can make it
2:52
better
2:53
cool so if somebody wanted to buy this
2:55
today where would they go and how much
2:56
does it cost so uh you can go to our
2:59
website right now um go to just
3:01
www.louievac.com it's right there and
3:03
right now we're retailing for 149.
