hey everyone today I'm going to show you
0:11
how you can upgrade your low quality and
0:13
low bit rate songs to lossless quality
0:16
songs using iTunes Match iTunes Match is
0:19
very easy to sign up for you can do it
0:21
right within iTunes and it's a $24.99
0:24
yearly subscription service and you can
0:26
see I've subscribed and all I have to do
0:29
is hit add this computer I'm going to
0:31
click that and then it's going to ask me
0:32
to sign in with my password so now you
0:35
can see it's gathering information about
0:37
my iTunes library after that it's going
0:39
to match my music with songs in the
0:40
iTunes store and then upload remaining
0:43
songs and artwork and this is a process
0:45
it might take a little while to run I
0:46
don't have a huge iTunes library so it
0:49
probably won't take forever uh but it
0:52
probably will be a little bit lengthy so
0:53
I'll come back when it's finished so
0:55
iTunes Match has now finished uploading
0:58
the rest of my iTunes library and
1:00
finishing everything up with iCloud and
1:02
iTunes Match and you can see here now
1:04
that I can access iCloud from an iPhone
1:06
or iPad or an iPad touch that is running
1:10
iOS 5 and all I have to do is turn turn
1:14
on iTunes Match in the settings app on
1:18
the iOS device so I can click
1:22
done so now on iTunes you'll see this
1:24
new little Cloud button right up here in
1:26
the top bar and this will show any songs
1:30
that are not downloaded to your library
1:32
so let's just say I delete a song from
1:34
my iTunes library and remove it and move
1:36
it to trash you can see the little Cloud
1:38
button shows up right next to it and I
1:40
can click the little Cloud button and
1:42
download it right to my Mac and it only
1:45
takes a little bit of time and you can
1:48
see it's downloaded right there now as
1:49
you may know about iTunes match your
1:51
music is by default 256 kilobits per
1:55
second and that is with all tracks with
1:57
iTunes Match now here's what the cool
2:00
thing is you can theoretically upgrade
2:03
all of your music with iTunes Match from
2:07
any low bit rate to a nice 256 kiloby so
2:12
the way you can see your your bit rate
2:14
in iTunes is right click on your little
2:18
information bar right here and now
2:20
you're going to see this list of all
2:22
these different columns you can add and
2:24
delete from iTunes so if I select bit
2:27
rate you'll see this new column here
2:30
and it shows me the bit rate of each
2:32
song so I have a lower bit rate song
2:34
here and then I have two higher bit rate
2:36
songs so now you can see have a song
2:38
Here selected and if I look at the bit
2:41
rate it's only 96 kilobits which is
2:43
relatively low and not very high quality
2:46
track so as long as this track has been
2:51
identified in the iTunes Store and
2:54
wasn't a track that was uploaded I can
2:56
just delete the track from my iTunes
2:58
library the track will stay there it'll
3:01
just show the little Cloud download
3:03
button right next to it but just to be
3:05
safe before you delete any tracks from
3:07
your iTunes library I just like to drag
3:09
it to the desktop to make a copy of it I
3:10
can always bring it back into iTunes
3:12
just in case it wasn't a file that
3:14
iTunes Match had identified and in
3:18
instead just uploaded because then you
3:20
just don't get the track back so I just
3:23
right click on this and I can click
3:24
delete now note again that this track
3:27
was 96 kilobits so I'm G to hit remove
3:30
and I'm just going to hit move the trash
3:32
and now you can see it shows the little
3:34
Cloud download button right here so if I
3:36
click download it's going to start
3:39
downloading and it's going to take you
3:40
know a few seconds it's not a huge file
3:42
so it'll finish up in about 31 seconds
3:43
and I'll be back then now you can see
3:45
that the track has redownloaded and if
3:47
we look at the bit rate column look at
3:49
that 256 kilobits and this is the full
3:54
quality track that you'd get right over
3:56
iTunes so let's say you ripped a CD in
3:57
low quality and all your tracks are
4:00
iTunes in a low quality and assuming
4:02
iTunes Match identify the tracks you'll
4:06
now be able to just delete the tracks
4:08
and redownload them in the full quality
4:11
so once again like I've stated this
4:12
doesn't work with tracks that have
4:14
uploaded to iTunes match those will
4:16
disappear from your iTunes library Al
4:18
together so you have to kind of be a
4:20
little careful about what you delete and
4:22
it's always good to like save your files
4:24
but you can see here I've just
4:25
transferred a 96 kilobit track into 256
4:28
kilobits and I can do do this with
4:30
theoretically every song I have just by
4:32
subscribing to iTunes match so there's
4:34
how you can use iTunes Match to upgrade
4:36
your lowquality audio tracks in iTunes
4:39
to a higher quality track just by
4:42
subscribing to iTunes Match and this bit
4:44
rate column is very handy column that
4:46
you can use to decide which tracks you
4:47
want to replace with the higher quality
4:49
ones and which ones you'll want to leave
4:51
uh for example if I delete this track
4:55
I'm not going to be able to download it
4:56
in any higher quality it'll probably
4:58
actually downgrade to 256 kilobits per
5:01
second so I wouldn't really want to do
5:03
that cuz this is a 320 kilobit per
5:06
second track so like always if you have
5:08
anything that you'd like to see me do a
5:09
how-to on make sure to send me an email
5:11
