hey everyone
0:11
today I'm going to show you how you can
0:11
capture streaming video in Mac OS 10
0:13
liar
0:14
now you can also do this in previous
0:16
versions of OS 10 as well
0:18
click Snow Leopard enter particular
0:19
Leopard as well I haven't personally
0:21
tested on there but I would assume it
0:23
works it's actually pretty easy and all
0:25
it requires is safari I've tried this
0:27
with a couple different video streaming
0:28
sites including dailymotion Vimeo
0:32
YouTube and Ustream different things
0:35
like that and I've had mixed results
0:37
with all of them but for the most part
0:40
any type of video file that you're
0:42
streaming you should be able to capture
0:45
and download this way so I'm going to
0:48
show you this with a youtube video but
0:49
it works the same with any video that
0:53
you're working with so what you'll have
0:56
to do is in Safari you go up to the
0:58
window menu and then click activity and
1:01
then you should see a listing of all the
1:05
tabs you have open in Safari and I'm
1:07
just going to click a little triangle
1:08
here to open this up and then shows me
1:10
all the files that are on the web page
1:12
I'm on and we're going to want to do is
1:15
look around here until you find the
1:17
largest file on the page and you can see
1:19
here downloading twenty one point nine
1:21
or thirty nine point four megabytes and
1:23
this is a video file and all you have to
1:26
do is hold down the option button on
1:28
your keyboard and a double click file
1:30
and if you go to your Safari Downloads
1:33
button here you can see that it is
1:34
downloading the video not by default
1:38
this downloads in a that FLV format now
1:41
that fov isn't the most optimal format
1:44
for playing video back on your Mac but
1:46
there are tons of different media
1:47
players and converters out there
1:49
available that can easily convert your
1:53
video into a more workable format in OS
1:56
10 so I wasn't able to capture all types
2:00
of live streaming video for example I
2:03
tried Ustream and that didn't seem to
2:05
work but YouTube live video I was able
2:09
to capture and download I was also able
2:11
to capture all video from
2:13
in motion video I had mixed results with
2:16
it working Mac not very well and once
2:20
your video is done downloading it's as
2:22
simple as clicking the little magnifying
2:23
glass in Safari here to show the video
2:26
in finder and from then you can play it
2:29
back and it just downloads right to your
2:30
downloads folder like any other file
2:32
would and that's honestly as simple as
2:35
it is you may have thought there'd be
2:36
more steps involved for something like
2:39
that but it's really that easy so
2:41
there's how you can capture and download
2:43
streaming video in Mac OS 10 lion as
2:46
always if you have anything that you'd
2:47
like to see me do a how-to on make sure
2:49
to send me an email I hope you found
2:51
this video useful and thank you for
