Apple calls the new 9.7-inch iPad its “most affordable iPad.” That’s a bit misleading, though, since it’s the exact same price — and size — as the model released last March. The exceptions are for schools, which can buy the iPad for $299 instead of the $329 retail starting price, and for students and educators, who can get it for $309.
