Apple seems to be catching up with the demand of the iPad 2 after shipping times for orders from the Apple online store dropped to just 1-2 weeks last night. Those in the U.S. noticed the change first, but it slowly spread to every country in which the device is currently available.
Shortly after its launch, shipping times for the iPad 2 hit 4-5 weeks, but as Apple deals with demand and orders begin to tail off a little, shipping times have continued to slowly drop.
It’s still not easy to get your hands on the second-generation device in a retail store, however; Apple retail and third-party suppliers seem to be selling out as soon as they receive stock. With a wait of just 1-2 weeks from the online store, that’s probably the quickest way of securing an iPad right now.
For those in the U.K., it seems Apple is currently processing orders made between 25th and 31st of March. I telephoned Apple today to ask about my own iPad order – which was placed on April 1st – and was informed orders after 31st March won’t start shipping until May 3rd.
