The Changeling is a horrifying ‘parenthood fable’

Apple TV+ is a relatively small player in the streaming market but it nevertheless produces content popular enough to give it outsized impact. In 2023, it’s scored big hits with Hijack, Silo, Shrinking, Foundation and more.

Add The Changeling to that list. The adult fairy tale is on ReelGood’s list of Top 10 Movies & TV during the week ending September 20. And it was popular enough to be on the same list the week earlier, too.

The eight-part drama staring LaKeith Stanfield series premiered on Apple TV+ September 8. A new episode debuts every week, and it will conclude on the Friday the 13th in October.

Here’s how Apple TV+ describes the show:

Based on the acclaimed bestselling book of the same name by Victor LaValle, The Changeling is a fairytale for grown-ups. A horror story, a parenthood fable and a perilous odyssey through a New York City you didn’t know existed. In addition to Stanfield, the series stars Clark Backo, Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, Jared Abrahamson, and special guest star Malcolm Barrett.

The Morning Show season 3 off to a strong start

Also on ReelGood’s Top 10 Movies & TV list for the week of September 14 though September 20 is The Morning Show.

The drama recently returned for its third season. In addition to the original stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Billy Crudup, there’s a new addition to the cast: Jon Hamm.

As Apple TV+ says:

“In season three of The Morning Show, the stakes are high as the future of the network is thrown into question and loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest in UBA. Unexpected alliances form, private truths are weaponized and everyone is forced to confront their core values both in and out of the newsroom.”

Watching either hit show, or any of the many others on TV+, comes with a $6.99-per-month subscription to Apple’s video streaming service. That’s a lower price than all of its larger rivals. And there are no commercial interruptions.
