Get ready to battle Sauron and his minions in Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. It’s turn-based strategy combat for iPhone and iPad set in the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien (obviously).

The game was created by EA, and is scheduled to launch in early May. Pre-registration is available now.

Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth promises action-packed action

“As the player discovers a mysteriously abandoned new Ring of Power, visions of their potential journey flash before our eyes – battles and adventures feature beloved and classic characters,” said EA of the upcoming game.

The description is heavy on superlatives and light on details, but a new gameplay trailer seems to show that Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will be focused on combat. Don’t expect to explore the Mines of Moria looking for loot — the game skips straight to the fighting.

Players will apparently build a team of characters from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit to battle the monsters of Middle-earth.

EA calls the look of the game styled realism, and says it “highlights the animated, fantastical and magical elements of our characters and world while remaining grounded in reality.”

Pre-register today

Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is scheduled to launch on May 10, 2023. There will be versions for iPhone/iPad and Android.

This will be a free-to-play game, which means it includes in-app purchases. That also means gambling via loot boxes.

Those eager to play can pre-register now on the EA website.
