Diablo fans will be soon able to answer the call to battle on their iPhone. On June 2, Blizzard Entertainment will launch Diablo Immortal, a massively multiplayer online action role-playing game for phones and tablets.

There’ll also be a PC version, and players will be able enjoy the game across platforms.

Diablo Immortal will be a free-to-play MMOARPG

“The demons of the Burning Hells are ready to be slain in the most expansive Diablo game that Blizzard has ever released,” said Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “As Blizzard’s first game designed from the ground up for mobile, it was important to us to deliver an experience worthy of the franchise, so we did a lot of testing, incorporated a lot of feedback, and created a game that we’re very excited to share with players.”

Diablo Immortal is set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III, includes new and familiar characters, including the franchise’s patriarch Deckard Cain.

Players will choose between six classes – Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer or Wizard. And the game will offer eight unique zones to travel through. The goal is to find the pieces of the corrupted Worldstone before the forces of the Burning Hells can gather them for their own sinister plans. And Blizzard is promising monthly free content updates.

As a MMOARPG (massively multiplayer online action-RPG) it’ll allow players to form Warbands with up to eight members. Or join Clans with up to 150 members.

For iOS, Android and PC

As noted, this is the first game from Blizzard designed for mobile devices. It will release versions of for iPhone and iPad, as well as Android.

When Diablo Immortal was first announced way back in 2018, it was going to be mobile only. But Blizzard later decided to expand it to PC, as well. Whatever the platform, the game will offer full cross-play and cross-progression. So someone should be able to switch seamlessly from iPhone to iPad to Android to PC.

Phone and tablet players will be able to use the touchscreen or an external game controller. And PC gamers can play with a mouse/keyboard or a game controller.

Diablo Immortal is coming in June

The RPG is set to launch June 2, 2022, pitting iOS, Android and PC players against the demonic forces of Skarn, Lord of Damnation. The PC version will be in open beta, though.

No matter the platform, Diablo Immortal will be free-to-play with optional in-game purchases. Blizzard promises that “the core game experience will always be free.”

The software will be available in most regions across the world at launch, with the remaining regions in Asia-Pacific gaining access a few weeks later.
