When it premieres today, Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+ won‘t require a subscription. And it’ll stay that way for a while. The show presents two marquee games a week, along with live pre- and postgame coverage.

Here’s how to watch baseball games on Apple’s streaming service for free — without needing an Apple device or an Apple TV+ subscription.

Watching baseball on a Friday night is a great way to end the work week. Especially as Friday Night Baseball will present some must-see games. The 2022 season starts with the much-anticipated New York Mets debut of three-time Cy Young winner and eight-time All-Star Max Scherzer in a matchup with All-Star Juan Soto and the Washington Nationals.

And Apple is picking up the tab. All you have to do is watch.

How to watch free MLB baseball on Apple devices

The free Apple TV application is needed to watch the Friday Night Baseball on Mac, iPad, etc.

The Apple TV application is available in the App Store for iPhone and iPad. There’s also a version in the Mac app store. Install any or all of these on your various devices as you would any software.

Once you have the application installed and running, click on Apple Originals in the left column. Then look around for Major League Baseball and click.

Watch Friday night MLB games on Windows, Android or Chrome OS

Watching Apple’s video content is as easy as visiting its website for anyone with a computer running Windows or Chrome OS. The same goes for Android phones and tablets.

You’ll watch Friday Night Baseball in a browser. All you need to do is go to TV.apple.com.

Scroll down to you get to Major League Baseball and click.

On a Roku, Fire TV or smart TV, too

Apple made sure there’s a version of the Apple TV application for a wide range of streaming devices, so you don’t have to miss out on Friday Night Baseball. That includes smart TVs.

On a Roku, go to the Channel Store and download the Apple software. On an Amazon Fire TV, installation can start with saying, “Alexa, find the Apple TV app.” You might need to create a free account, also called an Apple ID, if you don’t have one already.

And the app is available on Xfinity X1 and  Xfinity Flex, too.

It’s really free

Friday Night Baseball is currently free. The Apple TV app is going to suggest that you sign up for an Apple TV+ subscription at $4.99 a month, but that’s not required to watch these MLB games.

That said, Apple does say that access to the games is “free for a limited time.” At some point, you’ll need to subscribe to Apple TV+ to keep watching.
