If you’re having trouble with one of your favorite apps in iOS 15, it’s now possible to “report a problem” through the App Store. Apple removed this feature a couple of years ago but iOS 15 brings it back, and it’s now even better.

Here’s what has changed.

App Store gets its ‘report a problem’ feature back

You can find the link to report a problem with an app at the bottom of the app’s description in the App Store. It seems, however, that it’s only available to iPhone and iPad users in the U.S. for now, but that’s likely to change at some point.

If you’ve ever used this feature to file a complaint or detail a bug inside an app before, you may notice it’s a little different now — in a good way. There is now an option to report an app as a “scam or fraud” for the first time.

In addition, you can now use the feature to file reports about apps you haven’t purchased. It used to be that the link was unavailable until you had purchased an app or in-app purchase — but that’s no longer the case.

However, you are still required to download an app before the link shows up beneath its App Store description. So, if you see something that’s an obvious scam, you sadly cannot avoid installing it before you can report it.

Why the change?

It’s not clear why Apple has decided to bring back this feature after so many years. It could have something to do with the fact that scam apps are becoming more prevalent on the App Store, with Apple seemingly unable to block them all.

To report a scam app prior to iOS 15, users had to go through a complicated process of signing into their Apple account in a web browser, finding their recent App Store downloads, and then filing a report from there.

Now that it’s a lot easier to highlight app issues, users will be more likely to bring them to Apple’s attention instead of just moving on with their lives — and this should lead to a more sanitary App Store over time.
