The King of Fighters Allstar, an action RPG spinoff of the popular King of Fighters franchise, has landed in the App Store.

The game lets players collect and train their favorite fighters from across the entirety of the series. Players must build a team consisting of the best fighters from the franchise’s rich history. And then proceed to whoop ass with them.

With their team of fighters, players must battle through waves of enemies and larger-than-life bosses. There are multiple modes including Story Mode, Time Attack Mode, Player vs. Player (PvP), and a real-time Tournament Mode. The game boasts 130 collectible fighters to collect and upgrade at launch.

“High-quality presentation, intense fighting gameplay, and stand-out characters are some of many reasons why The King of Fighters is popular with players,” said Shin Hwa Cho, Executive Producer of developer Netmarble. “As KOF fans ourselves, we truly enjoyed working closely with SNK in creating The King of Fighters Allstar, and we are eager to see how this game evolves with KOF over time.”

King of Fighters Allstar comes to iOS

Although this global launch is the first time players will get to check it out in the West, The King of Fighters Allstar has already proven popular in Asia. It was the #1 downloaded title in Korea and Japan, #1 in revenue generated on the App Store in Korea, and has had 100 million fighters “collected” thus far. It has 14 million cumulative players for Korea and Japan alone.

To kick things off in the U.S., the game developers are offering several special bonus features. Players have 28 days in which to capture Orochi Iori and Orochi Leona, two of the series’ most popular characters. There is also a Special Roulette Event, in which players can earn free roulette tickets during gameplay. This can be used to score character upgrades. There’s additionally a Special Login Bonus which rewards players for logging in for seven days straight. Finally, players can compete in special Festival Events to secure other popular fighters to add to their roster of KOF characters.

The free-to-play The King of Fighters Allstar is available to download from the App Store here. In-app purchases are part of the game.
