Ordinary pet cams just let you see your furry friends, but Petcube Play 2 also lets you play lasertag with Fluffy via your iPhone, while Petcube Bites 2 can fling treats to Rex.

Both just debuted exclusively on Amazon for Prime Day.

These latest smart cameras promise “vast improvements” in video and audio quality over their predecessors which debuted way back in 2014.

They stream video at 1080p HD, with night vision. They will offer ultra-wide angles, up to 180º-horizontal and 180º-vertical. That said, at launch the viewing angle is limited to 160º. Petcube is working on a software update that will allow the camera to pan left and right, tilt up and down.

Naturally, you can talk to your dog or cat, and listen to them too.

Fun with Fluffy and Rex

Petcube Play 2 includes a built-in laser pointer that can be controlled remotely. The laser is much smoother and with more precise that the earlier version.

Petcube Bites 2 features a dispenser that lets the user toss treats varying distances. The new version is smaller and supports a wider selection of treat sizes. It holds up to 1.5 pounds of food.

There are iOS and Android versions of the necessary apps.

Both Petcube Bites 2 and Petcube Play 2 have Amazon Alexa voice control built in. They act as full Alexa hubs, plus there are Petcube Alexa Skills so users can ask Alexa to fling treats, play with their pet, or set the autoplay mode.

There’s also a Petcube Care video recording service. This captures action videos, triggered by sound or motion. AI technology helps weed out unnecessary recordings. Subscriptions start at $3.99/month.

At launch, both Petcube Play 2 and Petcube Bites 2 are available exclusively on Amazon for $199.
