This week’s Fortnite update brings yet another new weapon to Battle Royale. The Flint-Knock pistol is a powerful sidearm that uses heavy ammo and can deal up to 90 base damage in a single shot.

The version 8.11 release also brings back the impulse grenade, makes the scoped assault rifle more powerful, and more.

Following last week’s big Fortnite patch, the 8.11 update makes only minor changes to the game. Aside from a new weapon, game mode, and event, there isn’t a great deal for players to look forward to.

There is only so much we can digest in two weeks, however. Sometimes it’s nice to see these smaller releases that keep things feeling fresh without forcing you to change the way you play.

What’s new in Fortnite 8.11?

This week’s big addition is a new pistol. It’s called the Flint-Knock and it’s insanely powerful. It’ll knock you back when you shoot it if you’re not crouching, and if you hit an opponent at close range, they’ll get thrown, too.

The Flint-Knock is available in common and uncommon rarities, with a close-range base damage of 86/90. It does have a significant damage fall-off, so you won’t want to use it from a distance, and you’ll need to be accurate.

To balance out its power, Epic has made it so that the Flint-Knock must be reloaded after each shot — and there’s a three-second reload time.

The impulse grenade is also back in Battle Royale in this release, while the base damage of the scoped assault rifle has increased from 23/24 to 26/27. Epic has also reduced the spawn rate of the Baller from 100 to 50 percent.

One Shot and Blackheart Cup

This week’s limited-time game mode is One Shot. Only snipers are allowed in this mode, and gravity is set to lower than normal so you can jump higher and further. Each player spawns with 50 health and only bandages are available for healing.

The Gauntlet Solo and Gauntlet Duo test events are back with two extended sessions that run for 24 hours a day. There’s also a new Blackheart Cup being held on March 23 and 24, which offers $100,000 in cash prizes.

Epic has also made some minor bug fixes and improvements in this release. You can read about these in its full patch notes on the Fortnite blog. When you’re ready, the 8.11 is available to download across all platforms.
