Huge Shocker: Men Love The Zooey Deschanel iPhone Ad

Zooey loves her iPhone.
Zooey loves her iPhone, and men love Zooey.

Try to not fall out of your chair or trip face-first into the pavement, because we have some breaking news for you: men love Zooey Deschanel. We’re not quite sure why, but it probably has something to do with her drop-dead gorgeousness and delightful quirkiness. Her hair is also very nice.

Apple knows that Zooey Deschanel is wonderful too, and you can see Zooey on TV talking to Siri in the newest ad for the iPhone 4S. Her spot with Apple runs alongside a similar iPhone ad starring the one and only Samuel L. Jackson.

According to new research, Apple’s latest ads are being received very well. Specifically, men between the age of 18-34 seem to really be showing interest in the Zooey ad. We wonder why.

The YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score is based off asking people the following question: “If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?” Respondents are asked about all kinds of brands, including Apple competitors like BlackBerry, HTC, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung.

According to YouGov:

Apple has proven that celebrities go well with Siri.

Apple’s new iPhone ads featuring Zooey Deschanel and Samuel L. Jackson coincide with an increase in consumer perception for the brand among 18-34 year olds in the US. The recent improvement in consumer perception has pushed iPhone ahead of Android and distanced itself even more from the rest of the mobile device sector.

While both men and women were behind the perception lift, men registered the strongest push for the iPhone.

Android’s perception with the 18–34 demo dipped slightly when the iPhone campaign began running at the end of April.

Really?  It was cute once but now it’s just annoying.

  2. mr_bee says:

Zooey is cute enough (even though she spells her name incorrectly), but these latest ads with the celebrities are not really that good IMO.

They are identical to the original Siri ads but with celebrities.  There is nothing creative, original or interesting about that.  They aren’t even as well directed as the original versions.  They have a kind of jerky awkwardness about them and don’t flow as well IMO.

  3. Steffen Jobbs says:

Everyone’s a critic.  All that matters is that the ads sell iPhones.  If the commercials don’t win any awards, who cares as long as the iPhone is a box-office smash.

  4. Steven Seah says:

i LIKED it.. coz.. she’s exactly like some guy who is in da mood of… ‘today I dun feel like doing anythingggggg’

  5. wchoreo says:

According to YouGov??? ok. I’ll believe anything THEY say! Lol

I love the humor… “is that rain?” rolls (gorgeous) eyes… “ohhhw!”   I could watch Zooey do that a million times. (‘She’ can spell it any way ‘She’ likes, thank you very much) Thanks Apple for the semi-intimate peek at his wonderful woman. btw: I’m a lot older than 34. And the irony of her looking out the window while asking if it’s raining and then ordering out for SOUP, well that’s just… delicious.

  7. tcarlson says:

@mr_bee, she was named after Zooey Glass.  You know… from Franny and Zooey.

  8. John Neumann says:

What’s not to like? Doe-eyed Zooey bouncing around in her PJs. Oh wait a minute, she can’t microwave herself a can of soup, can’t clean her house. Let me rethink my fantasy . . . . screw it, I like the commercial anyway.

  9. Flyphoenix says:

Of course guys love Zooey who do you think is watching The New Girl?! Haha I actually like celb commericals.

  11. ApplePr0n says:

Wait…there’s an iPhone in this commercial?

  12. angel101 says:

That’s funny because my husband absolutely can’t stand that commercial.  He groans every time it comes on and if he can fast forward through it or skip it, he does.

I’m actually sort of tired  of hearing him complain about how lame it is…
  13. frampton says:

Ordering out for… fscking… soup. That really does strike me as “how precious can you be”? I’ll give you that she’s pretty, though.

  14. tinyvox says:

You still have a tv ?

  15. Wm Kiernan says:

She sees it’s raining, so the very first thing that pops into her mind is “let’s get some minimum wage employee out in the rain right away to deliver me some trivial thing I didn’t even want before I was aware it’s raining.”

  16. Jake Trudell says:

I don’t. And I really like Zooey. I’ve been offended when she’s been described as “(too) twee”. But this ad takes the twee gold at the twee Olympics. It’s saccharine almost to the point of being repulsive. I know this girl has some edge, but everyone insists on turning her into the human version of Hello Kitty.

  17. Daniel Heusburgh says:

I hate when people get pissed when someone says ‘everyone’s a critic’ or anything across those lines. Seriously, grow the f*ck up.

  18. Bob Forsberg says:

Zooey in a teddy would have been better.

  19. LDMartin1959 says:

I hate the ad that pops up on this page and won’t go away. I had to wait 25 seconds for it to clear before I could even begin to read the article. That sucks, folks.

  20. BigBossOgg says:

I find her just as lovely as can be, but to try to posit that she springs from bed with a face full of fresh makeup is a bit of a stretch. And I don’t believe she was looking out the window when she asked about rain, she had an upward roll to her eyes. That was just too-close editing on the part of the crew.

That said, I would love to be the man she woke up to every day..even if she does have an awkward, stumpy, stiff-legged way of walking…

It’s true, go watch her as ‘DG’, in the outdoor walking scenes in “Tin Man” and then try to argue that she is grace personified.

Actually, snailer12, she’s in the bathroom facing the shower and, presumably, a blank wall she she asks Siri that…In her defense…

  22. Odeey Deleon says:

Look out the fucking window you stupid bitch aww but I love how corky and  innocent she is :D

  23. Eric Heiss says:

Aside from her lovely eyes, she is our favorite Model in alluring Pantyhose.  Love those sexy Legs.

  24. ilovejunichi says:

Zooey Deschanel is a fucking MPDG (Manic Pixie Dream Girl). She really puts me off with her cutzy-ditzy-bubbly-crazy-20-something-year-old act when she’s already DIVORCED ONCE AND IN HER THIRTIES. To think that I was actually such a big fan of New Girl. Her gimmick got old after ten episodes.

  25. stcroix says:

I feel it’s lame as well, but that is just my opinion. I think all the ads that waste time with any phone are lame, like the new “music enhanced” and the animated mouth. or guitar. Just make a connection, get my email, and other important work oriented assignments. I really don’t need a ” fart machine” or any other silly nonsense. Please just my opinion, brand does not matter. Let’s see what important things mt smart phone can do for a change.

    She’s too good for us.
