Apple is targeting the corporate world in India in an effort to try and grow its business there, according to a new report.
With a population of 1.252 billion, it’s no secret that Tim Cook and Apple why desperately love to get a foothold in the country. This year alone, Tim Cook has met with the Indian prime minister, and come to an arrangement about official Apple Stores in India, alongside launching the Apple Watch and iPhone 6s.
However, getting into businesses in India would be another string to Apple’s bow.
To do this, the company has reportedly appointed more than 130 dedicated corporate resellers across the country, which it hopes to expand to more than 200 resellers by March 2016.
In addition to businesses, Apple also wants to sell its products to the education market through both devices and integrated software solutions.
Apple is supposedly expecting 15-20 percent of its revenues to come from the enterprise market in India, which would help protect Apple against potential slowdown in the consumer market. It would also help Apple build its business in India even if local iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales prove disappointing.
India’s Communications and I.T. Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has previously pushed for Apple to open an R&D center in the country. There has also been increasing talk about Foxconn shifting iPhone production to India, since this would allow it to get around the problem of accelerating wage inflation in China, where the majority of iPhones are made at the moment.
