Excuse the dad for checking his Instagram feed when the nurse brings the newborn into the room. He might be trying to find a name for the kid.

Naming a baby after an Instagram filter is a hot trend according to the annual Baby Names Survey, sponsored by the Baby Center.

Thankfully, Lo-Fi failed to make the list. However, Lux topped the list of Instagram-inspired names for a boy. For a girl, Millennial parents liked Juno.

The Baby Center’s annual list will often see trends influenced by popular culture. Last year, Disney’s Frozen made the names Elsa, Hans, Sven and Kristof popular for newborns, according to Baby Center blogger Carolyn Robertson.

More than 80 million photos a day are posted by some 400 million users, so it was only a matter of time before the selfie generation bestowed a little Instagram love on its offspring.

The survey found four Instagram filters among boys names. Lux was up 75 percent from 2014, Ludwig, 42 percent; Amaro, 26 percent and Reyes, 10 percent. Juno charted highest for girls, up 30 percent, followed by Valencia at 26 percent and Willow, 13 percent.

Lux is a recent addition to the Instagram features. The icon showing the sun is called the Lux effect for its instant exposure and contrast adjustment.

Parents of Sophia and Jackson can take heart. Those names are still the most popular.
