If you’ve been holding out on upgrading to iOS 8 until a jailbreak is available, your wait is over — courtesy of Team Pangu.
Currently available for Windows only, the promised iOS 8 and 8.1 jailbreak works on devices up to and including the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and iPad Air 2, as well as earlier devices.
There are a few catches, however.
First up is the fact that currently the jailbreak is geared toward developers and doesn’t come bundled with Cydia. What this means is that, while you can technically jailbreak your iOS device, for most users there won’t be much benefit since they’ll lack the ability to find and install software packages. There is a Cydia update currently being prepped according to a post on Reddit, although as of yet there’s no ETA.
Secondly, it’s also worth noting that the link on Pangu’s site is currently unavailable, with the team noting on Twitter that:
Current Pangu Jailbreak v1.0.0 is disabled remotely because we are fixing bug which may cause lost of your photos. Please wait …

However, a few mirrored versions have started popping up online. Personally I’d wait a few days before installing anything, although with regular jailbreakers evasi0n apparently being out of the jailbreak game, Team Pangu could be your only option for the foreseeable future.
If you do decide to install the jailbreak, check out our video below showing how to do it. While the video relates to iOS 7, the steps involved should be the same with iOS 8 — but bear in mind that currently only a Windows version is available.
