The Gold iPhone 5s Sparks An Accessory Gold Rush

The Parrot Zik Gold Collection.

Perhaps it’s more of a gold trickle than an actual bona fide rush, but we’ve already found two just-released gold versions of previously un-gilded gadgets: the Kickstarted eleMount iPhone stand, and Parrot’s luxury Zik headphones (above).

The ball-and-socket eleMount will complete the iPhone 5s trifecta (there’re already black and silver versions) when/if its aluminum form gets champagne anodizing, which will happen when/if the stand’s Kickstarter campaign tops $200K. There’re only nine days left in the campaign, but the little stand has already racked up over $137K, soaring past its original $10K goal. No word on price, but we’re assuming it’ll be the same as the silver and black versions: $60 for the mini eleMount, $70 for the larger stand.

Besides being a blast to use, we thought Parrot’s tech-stuffed, Bluetooth-powered Zik headphones were gorgeous when we tested them last month. Now the ‘phones get three new color options in the new Gold Collection (only one of which is actually gold in nature; one of the remaining two is bronze, and the other is black — which Parrot conveniently calls Black Gold. Brilliant). Same price for the new Ziks as the original, $399. Expected availability is in November.
