In the last couple of days, Apple killed off MobileMe and is now warning users its killing off another cloud service: the iWork.com Beta, a service Apple launched in 2009 to allow for online editing, downloading and collaborating on documents.
In an email to iWork.com users, Apple wrote:
Dear iWork.com user,
Remember, as of July 31, 2012, you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the web.
We recommend that you sign in to iWork.com before July 31, 2012, and download all your documents to your computer. For detailed instructions on how to save a copy of your documents on your computer, read this support article at Apple.com.
Moving forward, you can use iCloud to store your documents and make them available across your computer and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Learn more about iCloud.

This is sure to be an annoyance to some iWork.com users, since iCloud isn’t a total feature-by-feature replacement for Apple’s older, soon-to-be-killed-off beta service… and of course, Snow Leopard users can’t access the iCloud. That said, iWork.com never really took off, and has never left beta in almost three years, so hopefully the number of users affected will be minimal.
