It seems reasonable by now to expect Apple’s iPhone 5 to launch this September. Considering all the speculation we’ve waded through over the past few months, a September launch has certainly been the most consistent claim. And while we’re no closer to an exact launch date, the China Times pinpoints the second week of September for the launch of the fifth-generation device, and later this fall for the launch of the iPad 3.
Suppliers are currently preparing 400,000 “trial run” units of the iPhone 5, according to the report, which puts the device on track for that rumored September launch. Meanwhile, the iPad 3 has been delayed due to component shortages, but is still expected to launch this year — around Thanksgiving.
With no announcement at WWDC, the iPhone 5 is expected to arrive alongside iOS 5 later this year — possibly at Apple’s iPod media event traditionally held every September.
