While we’ve had no official confirmation that Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone will launch this year at all, the vast majority of recent speculation seems to agree that the device will be available this September. Strengthening those claims is a new Apple job listing posted in the U.K. for temporary “iPhone Sales Specialists” to work between August and October.
Our client, Apple, one of the largest consumer electronic hardware and software companied in the world is seeking full-time iPhone Sales Staff for an exciting project to work 5 days a week (Tuesday-Saturday) for the period 16th August – 29th October within key retail stores.
Temporary staff for a fairly short period of time would certainly suggest Apple is planning a major product launch for which it will need to bolster its retail workforce, and the dates fit in just nicely with that rumored September launch for the iPhone 5.
Some sites are even speculating that the device may launch in August due to the start date on the job listing, however, I think it’s more likely Apple would use the last two weeks of August to train new staff and prepare them for the new iPhone’s launch the following month.
Gekko Ltd, the employment agency which has posted the job listing, has previously worked with Apple to find staff for Apple-branded sections within larger retail electronics stores, according to CNET U.K.:
We’d wager that Gekko is hiring to fill these sections, as one of the responsibilities of the advertised role is to “ensure the Apple area within the store is effectively merchandised”.
Candidates will need to provide a “first-class customer service experience” and “capture the hearts and minds of potential customers,” for which they will be paid £75 per day — a very respectable rate for U.K. retail staff.
So, if you’re in the U.K. and you’d like to be one of the first to get your hands on the iPhone 5, this might be your chance!.
