hey guys a from Elijah Gadget Hunter
0:09
here at maw World
0:10
2013 uh here with col toac and I ran
0:13
across another Nifty gadget for me to
0:15
sharpen my clouds on this is called the
0:17
double and it's a very a very unique
0:20
piece of uh equipment it is wheels for
0:23
your iPad uh so it's basically a
0:25
telepresence for your iPad I'm here with
0:27
Mark the president and co-founder he's
0:29
going to tell us what this thing can do
0:31
um 0 to 60 time Mark never oh okay it
0:34
only goes three miles an hour I got to
0:36
say I was actually a little frightened
0:37
when I saw it at first I thought maybe
0:39
uh the uh robot n network had activated
0:41
and Skynet was taking over and then I
0:43
saw that you were controlling this thing
0:44
so tell us what is this thing what can
0:46
it do so uh double is a telepresence
0:48
robot meaning you could be anywhere in
0:49
the world and you can call into this
0:50
robot and drive around so we could drive
0:53
around this conference we could drive
0:54
around our office we could dri we could
0:55
drive around our house when we're not
0:56
there and uh we could watch a family
0:58
member or um you know uh attend a remote
1:01
meeting or put it in a home and show it
1:03
for real estate anything and it looks
1:06
like you control it from any iOS device
1:08
yeah it works on any iOS device iPhone
1:10
iPad it also works on a web browser so
1:12
you can drive it from your computer and
1:13
you said that this can be controlled
1:15
from anywhere in the world so this could
1:16
be in an office in Taipei and we could
1:18
be controlling it here from San
1:19
Francisco yeah anywhere with internet
1:21
fantastic uh I would love to have one of
1:22
these in my house but my assuming I'm
1:24
assuming that this isn't for uh regular
1:26
consumers this probably more for
1:27
businesses uh mostly businesses are
1:28
buying it it cost $2,000 you can
1:30
pre-order it now on our website so uh
1:32
mostly businesses are buying it for the
1:34
you know t uh telecommuting and and
1:35
remote workers but uh a lot of uh
1:37
individuals are buying it too for the
1:39
for the family use cases and things like
1:40
that so Mark uh I know that a lot of
1:42
people use these things for like Skype
1:44
and that kind of thing uh tell us some
1:45
of the other uses for these because you
1:46
were talking to me about them and
1:47
there's actually some really cool uses
1:48
for this yeah so um imagine if you uh if
1:51
you were trying to deal with a factory
1:52
in China and you wanted and you were
1:53
having a hard time communicating with
1:54
them you could send this this robot over
1:56
there and you can actually drive around
1:57
talk to them interact with the people
1:59
there and see the being made a lot of
2:01
teachers want to buy it for uh kids who
2:02
can't make it into the classroom either
2:04
they have the flu or uh uh you know like
2:07
I said the real estate and the
2:08
businesses and stuff like that but and
2:09
you mentioned Museum tours too which I
2:11
thought was really cool yeah uh you know
2:12
you can put this in a museum and then
2:14
Museum when they're not open at night
2:16
you know a museum in Europe is not open
2:18
they're wasting all their time with
2:19
nobody coming into the museum at night
2:21
and then we could be actually calling in
2:22
from here in the US and drive and take a
2:24
tour of the museum while they're while
2:26
normal hours are closed how hard would
2:28
it be to strap some machine guns to this
2:29
have it used as a security robot we get
2:31
a lot of requests for payall guns uh
2:34
tasers uh right now it's just just for
2:36
monitoring but we do get a lot of
2:37
security use cases it would look really
2:38
great with some weapons Dro to it I'm
2:40
just saying okay Mark so you were
2:42
telling me that um you actually built
2:44
this thing and and the uh the design of
2:46
it is very complicated you had to fit
2:48
all these complex Electronics ins inside
2:50
this cylinder uh to make it sleek and
2:51
good-looking but then you were telling
2:52
me you have some experience building
2:53
robots yeah actually uh uh me and my
2:56
other co-founder David met at the TV
2:57
show BattleBots he was working for
2:58
BattleBots and I was on the TV show and
3:01
uh Bal boss the show where you build
3:02
robots and they kill each other yeah
3:04
basically yeah okay so uh so I had a
3:07
robot with like a spinning blade on it
3:08
and a gas engine and it was crazy loud
3:10
and uh now we build much calmer robots
3:13
and it's uh you know something that
3:14
people will use in their home eventually
3:16
I think I just saw like a retractable
3:18
kickstand on this thing too right that
3:19
is true yeah uh if it's running low on
3:21
battery or if you want to park it and
3:22
save energy you can put the kickstands
3:24
down and these little feet will come out
3:25
the bottom yeah so cool so this is
3:27
available on your website you said it's
3:28
how much it's uh on our website right
3:30
now if you pre- order and the website
3:32
address was is dou robotics.com awesome
