Hey, what's up guys, Stephen Gold of Mac here
0:04
Now each and every day I get at least one email from someone asking me to review a lightning cable
0:08
9 times out of 10 I respectfully decline. But today is one of the rare days that I get excited about reviewing a lightning cable
0:14
Because this is the Python cable, and it promises to be the world's strongest lightning cable
0:19
So let's test that out. Before we put this cable to the test, let's take a quick look at it
0:27
It's an Apple MFI certified lightning cable for charging and syncing that comes in 5
0:31
different lengths from 10cm all the way up to the 3m cable I have here
0:36
Making it the longest Apple certified cable available. It's also got that nice rubberised texture to help prevent it from ever getting tangled
0:43
It'll charge a little bit quicker than other third party cables thanks to the type of wire
0:47
used inside. Another interesting feature is that it's got dual connectors. So if you have both Apple and Android devices, you only need to carry one cable
0:56
On top is the lightning connector which you can pop off to reveal a micro USB underneath
1:00
Plus you won't lose the lightning portion as it's hooped on. There's also a USB-C version if that's something you need
1:07
If you're one for matching every accessory to your iPhone, the Python cable comes in
1:10
4 different colours to match whichever colour iPhone you have. Not only is the super long length handy, but it's main boasting feature is that it's super durable
1:18
The skin is actually PVC reinforced Kevlar that's been braided straight in
1:22
So if you're one of the many people constantly replacing broken lightning cables, this could
1:25
be the one for you. It's construction means it can carry up to 250kg which they boasted a few times on their
1:32
site as well as their email to me is strong enough to tow a car
1:35
Speaking of which, let's get to why you clicked on this video. To see whether the Python cable can tow a car without snapping and still work with my phone
1:43
We're going to be towing this Toyota Yaris which weighs 880kg across this car park using
1:47
only the Python cable. That might sound impossible as the car is a lot heavier than the cable's quoted weight
1:52
capacity but remember we're not lifting the whole weight of the car, only rolling it along
2:22
Okay so surprisingly it did that no problem but we really wanted to test it by trying
2:39
to tow my Vauxhall Insignia which weighs almost double the weight of the Yaris at 1538kg
2:45
So 3, 2, 1. Crap. That is a no. So we pushed our luck a little bit, worked perfectly fine towing the smaller Yaris with
3:01
my car but as soon as we tried to flip that and tow my car with the Yaris, it immediately snapped
3:08
So it can tow a car just depending on the weight of it
3:12
Overall still a really strong cable but we did actually break it
3:18
Okay so I did manage to snap the Python but that really was my own fault
3:22
I pushed it past it's limits. Obviously though you're never going to use your lightning cable to tow a car
3:27
So if you're on the lookout for a lightning cable that you're not going to be able to break easily, the Python is the only option to look at
3:34
